(I see I missed to get the opening pleasantries, but they're basically "Hi!".)

Here is what I sent them via the APTmod message interface. It's not good, but it's far better than in-game diplo message

This is a test if you can receive diplo messages via the APTmod web site, so you aren't tied to using the in-game diplo screen to send messages.
