. It can't be as bad as all that ... can it? You've just build one of the (situationally) best wonders in the exact situation for which it shines! Look at all that water on the map where virtually every city will be coastal. You have a couple small islands that you can reach easy for early 2C TR's, and at least one (the easiest and quickest) has Fish and shares rice.
Asoka might not be the best early game leader, but later on he's at least decent. ORG lighthouses will help early, and SPI is powerful once you unlock more civic options. You can time your whips on rotations to make 50% use of Caste WS hammers and specialists, Hop back and forth between Nationhood (while saving gold) and Bureaucracy (while researching to boost your academy), or duck into Pacifism quick to generate a GP which you then use to pop a GA or bulb a key tech, etc, etc. I'm sure there are more SPI tricks that I haven't even thought of
You also have no close neighbors to worry about early land wars. Late game naval stuff might be annoying, but as long as you win before then that's not an issue
