It's impossible to 2-pop whip a Monument, due to the fact it is 30 hammers (So putting a single hammer makes it 29 and a 1-pop whip).
You think we can get Code of Laws before other people do? That was my biggest worry there: Code of Laws is a much more common tech and I do not feel it is likely for us to get the religion if we go for it. I suppose that going for early Courthouses will help in our more core cities, though (120 hammer Courthouses simply are not going to be that great for our civ right now). I suppose it just depends on if we want Courthouses earlier or a religion.
WilliamLP offered us Open Borders. I decided to accept: I do not feel we have anything to hide(our military is good enough it does not show weakness) and we could use the possible trade routes. It'd be nice if we could get a Scouting unit out...
Walton has 2 hammers into an Axe. I could 2-pop whip it, overflow into a Monument and send the Axe exploring in WilliamLP's lands.
I'll go for Priesthood before Writing if you really think we should, BaII. Unless we found a new city or something though, we should be 100% certain to get Writing before our cash runs dry as-is. (EDIT: I just realized I misread what you said. AH -> Priesthood -> Writing with some possible break-even it is!)
BTW, the capital 2-pop whippedi t's Axe and will 1-turn complete the next Axe to send towards the barbarian city.
