Well, I did finish the turn yesterday.
I ended up going W-NW with the scout, because moving SW would have put Moiraine on unforested flat ground.
Yeah, I agree that's one of our better options. My biggest hesitation is that we can't move out of our borders and settle in the same turn. So, we would probably need to complete a quechua before the settler, which puts a significant delay on our second city. Now, that might be the best option, but I want to test things out a bit first. I finally updated the sandbox, so I'm going to try a few different options:
1. Use the scout to fog-bust and prevent any barb animals from appearing where they could threaten the settler. I'm not sure yet if this is possible.
2. Settle the "2" spot first, since we can move out of our borders and settle the same turn. This city could be settled the same turn as the original "1" site, but seems significantly weaker at first glance. Then we could finish the Quechua and settle the copper city next.
3. Switch to a quechua this turn and use the chop to finish it. Maybe with whipping, the city won't be delayed by too much?
4. Keep the same plan through T31, and revise the dotmap to include a different city that picks up the copper.
Any other options I'm missing? I'm going to play out a few tests now and then play tonight (probably in the next 4 hours). Here's a current overview of our neighborhood in case anyone wants to play around with different dotmaps or brainstorm other options.
Oh, and here's the latest sandbox save.
