(1) If we're in a settling race with Care Bears, let's play our turns early on turns 65 and 66 just in case.
(2) Techs: I'm assuming our scout can get the coast unfogged for SutOxy. If that's the case, then Berkeley should be connected to them by coast, so we'll get foreign trade route bonuses. Let's go with Sailing -> Masonry -> Mathematics. I agree that Monarchy is simply not happening this early, and Carnegie Mellon is fine at size 7 anyway (assuming we get the silver). Also, we wouldn't get stone in our borders (if we do) until turn 71, and we'd still need the time to build a road there, and I'd rather we farm a floodplain instead (after mining the copper, of course!).
(3) Related to the previous point, let's keep research at 0% until we get the library in Carnegie Mellon finished.
(4) I suggest a worker at MIT, size 4, for our seventh worker. A library just isn't that beneficial to us now but we can easily complete it later after the worker, and MIT might be able to generate our second Great Scientist. (MIT has a lot of hammers for a size 4 city so we can slow-build the library.)
(5) Stanford can grow to size 5 and then do 2-pop whip settler. No need to chop, then, but we should have a road set up to silver.
(6) Just re-reading LP's thread from PB4. "If you're not building a worker or settler now, you'd better have a good reason why." The capital has a good reason to build the library. MIT, not so much. Just keep this in mind. Berkeley and Stanford will also be contributing (via whips) once they grow a bit more.
(7) What are you planning to talk about with Yuufo? He will ask about open borders, and possibly extending our NAP.
(8) Asterik really doesn't have horses OR copper hooked up? That's awfully brave, especially now that barbarian humans are spawning. But he does have stone ... and do we want to complete the Great Wall? Not sure how it will help THAT much given that we can still analyze Care Bears well (e.g., use a sentry chariot if we can get enough XP from barbarians). Also, do we even have trade routes set up? Finally, I'm really confused how he managed to get Mathematics this early without even settling his gold tile, and without road networks to all his cities.
(9) Given that Asterik will be done with Mathematics soon and has HG, do you think he'll head for The Hanging Gardens? I'd really rather he have it than Care Bears ... we can talk to him about this?
(10) Here are my projected future cities:
#5 (Cornell) by the stone, as planned
#6 (UIllinois) by the silver
#7 (UWashington) by the fish up north, can share corn/horses with Berkeley. Alternatively, can settle near cows and spices to put pressure on Care Bears' sixth city.
#8 (Princeton) by the forested area to our west (will negotiate with LP). Hopefully by rice but if not sharing wheat is fine. We just want the forests, and later, the cottages! We badly need rivers, I'm not sure why we're so deprived of them right now.
#9 (UT Austin) by the sheep west of MIT?
#10 (Georgia Tech) Filler city up north near Care Bears area, or south of Cornell?
