IIRC he wanted gold over stone, but we badly need any gold we can get, so I do not want to give him any.
I'd see if we can get THG and then tell him when we can give him stone. That'll be in about two turns. I sent him a quick PM explaining that we'll get back to him within the next few turns:

Seriously, we want Rome to attack India. We're going to have to talk to Asterix about this, but he might want some compensation...

EDIT

The turn flipped over to turn 90, and no one had a huge score increase yet, so the Hanging Gardens might still be safe. I know it's not the best wonder for us but we do have 9 cities right now and it makes India a bit more wary about us.
If we do get THG, what cities should get whipped? I'm assuming that we badly need Illinois to stay at size 2 so we should avoid whipping it (work silver and crabs) but UT Austin could whip granary to quickly start on a library next. And we do need more axemen by our border. Finally, if we have surplus population in cities with libraries, we should work some scientists ... how quickly can we get Currency?

Quote:Asterix,
We're planning on figuring out something to give to you for a happiness resource soon (e.g., our stone for your incense). Right now, we're going to try and figure out the builds and worker movements in our empire to get Moai quickly (but not so quickly that it comes at huge cost to us). This should be clear in a few turns, so once we know that, we can make a definitive offer. Right now, I''m pretty sure we can get Moai done in at most 15 turns, likely sooner, but check your email later for an official offer.
Sincerely,
DMOC

Thank you, Eggheads, for the screenshot of Antium.Yossarian has taken the time to make a composite image of the lands we know the Romans have that we are including in this joint email.
We currently have 3 quechuas strategically located around the Roman lands as scouts. Our plan is to replace two of these with Axes, and the third one we'd like to hear your thoughts about we should do with since he's landlocked between Roman and Dinosaur land. Dinos: We can move him the way you feel is best, or and send screenshots to you both, or we could even sell him to you if you're interested.
Also, Asterix approached us with an idea that we attempt to bribe Rome into starting a fight with India instead of any of us. It turns out GG has actually responded to correspondence from Team M&M. We would obviously need to rely on Asterix to do the talking if we are interested in that arrangement as Team M&M is the only one we know of that GG has actually responded to, which is a bit of a weak link to this suggestion. It could be nice to keep India occupied with some nasty praetorians to keep their score more even with the rest of us, and we could also make the suggestion that "Either you fight India, or you fight all three of us instead" (Which for some reason reminded me of the old "We have nuclear weapons to back up our words!" AI diplomacy in the previous Civ games). What do you guys think? We're not really sure what to make of it, but thought it was an idea that we should discuss together.

Quote:Hey guys,
I take it that at this point, the three teams among us all agree to a defensive pact against Rome, effective until turn 130? (I'm just throwing that out as a ballpark date; feel free to revise.) If we could all confirm to this, that would be great.
At some point, we should let Rome know this to act as a deterrent. Since they don't seem to check the forums, let's send them a message in-game by clicking on their name and writing something in the text box (this would also keep our defensive pact a secret from India). I propose that on turn 95, we all write this message to them:
"The Teams of Byzantium, Inca, and English are forming a three-way defensive pact. Thus, a declaration of war towards one of our teams is equivalent to declaring war on all three of us."
Let me know what you think. We don't have that much time left, now that Rome is sure to start building their military. We're getting walls and axes up to our border area as we speak.
To recap:
1. Defensive Pact until turn 130
2. Should Rome declare war on one of us, all three teams should make their best effort to weaken Rome and to assist allies in need.
3. Send a message to Rome ingame on turn 95.
4. (Highly, highly recommended.) One of us contacts Asterix to tell Rome to target India. And yes, The Pyramids city is close to their border.
Sincerely,
DMOC

Team Blame Caledorn also accepts these rules:
1. Defensive Pact (against Rome) until T130.
2. Should Rome declare war on one of us, all three teams should make their best effort to weaken Rome and to assist allies in need.
3. Send an ingame message to Rome on T95.
4. Team Blame Caledorn takes responsibility for asking Asterix to tell Rome to target India, and also confirm to Asterix that the Pyramids are close to the Roman border as an added incentive for the Romans to target the Indians.
Dinos: We would appreciate you showing us the way to the Indian border, so just assign a unit that we should follow (or give us a path you wish us to follow from his current position, using numeral moves - for instance 9-9-8 equals NE-NE-N). We assume your units will keep a close eye on the area where our quechua near your border is currently located, so our scout there is superfluous for the time being. For the record, we would like to defog a last tile on the coast there before we're ready to move, and we would also need open borders with you if we are to travel through your lands of course.
