Yeah, I never seriously thought that he was running Rome too; it was mostly just that Rome was ignoring everything I sent to them. In addition to email, I sent their players a personal message (on this forum) just asking for like a 'yes/no' answer just to acknowledge that they had gotten our message (and if they were interested), and they never responded. They've posted on the forums after I sent them their message, so I know they're deliberately ignoring us. It just seems against the spirit of a full diplomacy game, that's all.
The optimal play for them in this game is to sign long NAPs with us and Blame Caledorn (possibly making us offer concessions to them, but we'd be happy to do that) and then attack the English team.
I also wasn't aware that there was some language barrier, but Rome seems to have understood our in-game message to them. Also, what's to say that Teddy and I can't read/write their language? (I'm not sure where they're from.) I am fluent in two common languages, for instance.
