Ideally: If everyone plays the same rate they have been, then there isn't any actual change in the time the turns have taken to roll, just less need for pausing.
Even as an RB noob I can see that that isn't how it works in practise. There are always people who will schedule their time to play based on how much time is left on the timer, and not a specific time of the day.
I've made my opinion on missing pauses quite clear - as far as I'm concerned, if you need a pause, it's your responsibility to ask for one, not expect everyone else to babysit you like you're a fucking child.
If you miss a turn because you didn't specifically ask for a pause, you should lose the turn. Tough luck, move on.
If we took that policy you can bet people would stop missing pauses in a real hurry. However, since we apparently don't want to be strict on this, extending the turn timer won't achieve anything.
