I played through to t114, at which point I had every cottagable tile for Alfie being worked (is the boosted mine cottagable? Is it worth cottaging?) The downside of this is that the city only makes 16 base hammers per turn which is 36 hpt for building Oxford (in Bureau with a forge) making it a 12 turn build (19 if you include the university too, but quicker if we can time it to do in a golden age). Mining the two other grass hills gives us 20 base hammers for a nine turn (15 with university) build. Four turns of Oxford is going to be worth about 500 beakers, but I'd rather have the cottages as they pay off that 500 beakers in 27 turns (and it would take 60 turns for them to mature if built straight after Oxford).

Thinking about growing the capital to work all those cottages another sharer city 3S of Alfie to work the two plains and one hill cottage could help. If Alfie works them itself the food surplus is +5 meaning it hits size 19 about t155 (if we never whip it again and health and happiness aren't an issue), if we have a sharer for those three the surplus is +8 initially and should hit size 19 about t145. I don't think ten turns is all that big a difference, probably only a hundred beakers or so. The last cottage will mature t174 if they all get worked constantly.
In this run our Great Scientist is due t115 at which point our choice is:
- An Academy for Alfie
- A golden age to switch to HR/Caste/OR, pop the borders in all our new cities, get a second great scientist from Englebert and create a lot of GPPs elsewhere.
We can save building a monument in Kirby, Lucky, Marmalade, Nina, Ophelia and Quentin with caste artist border pops and if we can get the Great Person earlier (I didn't run the scientists constantly and we could run a spy as well) then that could give us silk a bit earlier too.
Also in this run:
- I put Ophelia in the wrong place,
- built a galley in Butterscotch to send a scout over to explore Cynheard and Pindicator and meet people to their north and west,
- got three religion spreads,
- 1-turned all the religious techs,
- had seven Sacrificial Altars in place by turn 115
At what point do you think a rush to Music would make sense? I think after CoL (t102) is an option, in which case t111 or 112 seem to be when we'd get it. I dunno what a standard time for a music push is but dtay got PB13's first Great Artist on t123, where tech was cheaper, but the terrain wasn't as lush as it is here. Again doing this allows us to avoid building monuments in a lot of cities and starting the golden age at turn 112 could be good as we'll just have grown into our Calendar happy...
