I logged in and checked how the new turn is looking, here are couple of random comments:
- GermanJoey asked for 500 gold in exhange to 60 gpt. I decided to trust him and accepted that deal. I don't think there is a real domestic reason, which would have conflicted with getting 100 gold from this arrangement. GJ is one of those civs in the north that possibly have a chance to still climb into a winning position, but I doubt this trade would be the main cause if that happens..
- BGN is looking good. Previously in this thread I've stated multiple times that despite his high score he is in reality behind and something needs to be done before he really becomes a game-winning threat. Well, now BGN has made that stuff happen.
He is already up to 33 cities and new ones keep coming. Economically he is still a bit behind us and has some catching up to do, but he has by far the most attractive neighbor portfolio from all contenders. Meanwhile I think our biggest problem will be that soon we might only have 3 neighbors, BGN, pindicator & dtay...
- Dtay gets Mil.Trad in 2 turns and is not far away from Rifling and Cavalries. As much as I like the pure economic Corporation path I think we really want to get some techs that enable us to produce something more useful than knights. Next point is related to that:
- We got a Great Scientist from Englebert. I think I like the idea of using it for a Astronomy bulb. Galleons are units that will be useful for a long long time and navy will most certainly play a major role in this game already from a defensive perspective.. We should be able to get our 2-man GA with GPs from Kirby and Gertie (with Cornelius as a back-up). We might want to head for Cavalries soon ourselves too so that we can realistically attack someone in 25-50 turns, but building 10-20 Galleons is certainly something that puts us onto path towards new conquests too
- Mardoc has (no surprises here) 4 LBs and a scout in Communist, which probably means that we can release him from playing duties. I'm sorry for Azza that he has been forced to hang around for so long, but that should not be too long either.. We started our war against Azza 30 turns ago and as much as I bitch about our RNG it must be considered a huge success that we have come so far that we are about to finish Mardoc. Obviously we've had great geopolitical luck, but unfortunately others have had it too and as said, when I look at our new neighbors things don't seem too bright. Well,
