Great report, Ianus! It looks like things are looking swell indeed!
What a diplomatic coup with the nuclear engines gift! That will allow our ships to play a bit of zone defense between planets, and in combat the 2-space manueverability will help us dodge those Silicoid missiles.
I did get the save (and I assume that I am up next to play, right?)
But first, there is just one thing I want to clarify:
In this battle, since the Silicoid Sharks had lasers on them, I'm guessing they stuck around, right? Which means, did our Honeybees actually kill all 3 attacking Sharks (if so...wow!) And what about the colony ships? I'm guessing they retreated, right?
In all, I think the bravery and ingenuity of the Honeybee pilots was only surpassed by that of their commander, Admiral Ianus. I don't think I could have pulled that off....

Three large Sharks sporting a 5-rack of missiles and a laser or two. But after a nail biting battle involving dodging all missiles due to AI stupidity, the ultimate sacrifice made by our heroic Scout pilot to absorb a laser salvo, and incredible dodges and hits by our fleet of Honeybees, I manage to hold the planet with the loss of only 10 fighters and our scout. Seriously that pilot is the greatest hero I have ever known!
