Yes, it does.
My sim broke down around settling the fourth city because I got sloppy, and I don't have time to fix it right now. I think you can get a Pyramids date competitive with your previous going down this path, though. Now, research became painfully slow in my sim, probably because I skipped Pottery in order to cut out all extraneous techs and try to get to Mathematics as fast as possible
. If I ran it again I would integrate Pottery, and that would obviously change everything. So it would not be a good idea to follow my sim, but here are some saves anyway:
