i can live with that.
they're pretty reasonable, will expand more to the W, and we get 3 cities in the land between us to their 2. so it's fair to give them concessions in return.
my only concern is we're getting kind of cornered (self-cornered
) into monarchy. a clumsy way of saying the tech trade option is more appealing than trading the worker. will go into detail later. no problem with researching monarchy per se, but it may leave us quite a few turns behind the others.
ilios mentioned poly will go this turn and while it's true in RBP2 the religions were slow to fall, egypt's whole plan has looked to me, since before the game even started, to be based on running a monk economy so i think judaism is out of the question.
POSSIBLY the more logical path would be for us to go to HBR + make up the beaker difference somehow.
the chat summit is critical so let's hold off on an answer until afterwards. the mere fact we're involved, despite starting well over 30 tiles away, at least shows we've managed to extract value from our scout start
we're up to 4 contacts now with 2 more likely to come shortly. definitely helps keep us in the loop.
as far as tech vs worker. the reason i'd prefer to give a tech rather than a worker is while we could knock the worker out in 4T and the tech maybe in only 6-7, the fact of the matter the tech gives A4 a one-time boost, while they'd get value from the worker for the rest of the game. of course we want to help them, just not too much yet. one possible thing to watch for is we'd need to choose carefully to avoid the no tech brokering clause.
having said that, if D+I feel worker is the better option then i have no problem with it. we've established a very solid relationship with A4 who have been very fair to us so if we're going to cut anyone a good deal it's them.
as for the french. talking to them was a bit like this for me:

revenge is a dish best served cold
