Played! My full report will probably have to wait until sometime tomorrow because uploading pictures always seems to take me forever, but here are the basics:
- I had to shake some rust off and wasn't feeling well, so I made several mistakes (though in fairness, they mainly look that way with the benefit of hindsight). I also didn't leave things in nearly as neat a condition as Thrawn did for me, nor even as neat as I like to leave them normally in an SG. Fair warning!
- Both techs hit on my first interturn, which was really lucky, but it led me to overinvest in planetology, from which I failed to pivot sufficiently after I discovered...
- The white star to the northeast that would have been our stepping stone to the middle of the galaxy is the Vulcan asteroid field. Beyond it, the two best planets we've yet discovered (A Terran 115 and a Minimal Artifacts 50, though both might be terraformed already) are both Human colonies. Yes, that means we have centrally-located Humans off to a powerful start. Although oddly they seem to be behind for now in technology. (Or were when GNN reported on it in 2327 at least; we don't have contact yet. Psilons were predictably in the top spot, and then Meklar, Sakkra, Alkari, Us, Humanity.)
- The yellow star north of the nebula nearby is Sssla, which should make things interesting. The red star between us and it (west of the nebula) is Tyr, an Arid 65, and we have a colship en route, due in 4. The Sakkra have probably scouted this world, and probably won't be pleased with our claim even if they don't poach it in the next few turns.
- Another colship is en route to the poor world to our east, due in 2, in hopes that it will open more worlds to our scouts and eventually colships.
- A third colship was just completed at Artemis. I've ordered it to Bootis (the Dead 45) but you can veto this if you want to for some reason.
- Artemis is maxed out, though Thrawn does have a point about keeping it just below the cap so it will grow a little extra population. I haven't delved into the detailed implications of the growth formula as he has though, so I don't know how to maximize this effect.
- Cryslon has enough BC invested in shipbuilding that switching over production from research will let it one-turn a colship (or switch to combat ships) if desired, but I was expecting to have more places to send a colship and instead we're kind of stuck at least until Range 6 hits.
- I've been sending transports from Cryslon and Tauri to Centauri en route to Tyr-to-be. A few of these are still en route, which with the en-route colships is part of what I mean by "messy."
- We have six scouts: Two at Tyr, one at the poor world, and one still retreating from Sssla (will reach Tauri next turn. More messiness!) ... and two at the Neutron star across the nebula: A size 10 Radiated UR. I should have had at least one more in the Poor region and only one at Tyr (it and the pair at the UR can scout the north when/if we get Tyr) but I didn't know it would work out this way until I discovered Sssla.
- The Sakkra had 7 Spirit destroyers at Sssla (and 11 bases) when I visited. We'll have contact as soon as Tyr is colonized.
- IT20 is in the percentages, but R6 is barely lighting up the bottom its bulb.
- The save is attached! If you want to wait for my full report though, no worries....
