Also, I think the lion gets deleted at some point and a new, healthy barb warrior replaces it somewhere.
Hey, I wonder if it is possible to figure out a minimum size to the land mass based off the number of barbs that appear?
My quoted line wasn't really a question, it was commiserating. And I've learned all I need to learn about barbs via black eyes and bad beats. Fuck em. But the lion does spawnbust barb warriors (etc.) from appearing up until the turn barb animals disappear. Then barbs will spawn to fill into whatever the carrying capacity is for your continent, based upon their formula (combo of game level [Monarch = 40] and number of unowned tiles on your island/continent. Details here (appropriated from a Fintourist post in another game) in my PB41 thread (don't click if you're playing in PB41, you'll have to figure shit out on your own

For your last question, I suppose it is theoretically possible but in practice, no, you couldn't figure that out without having complete vision on the entire continent to know when all borders (including those that are not yours) would have popped to claim new territory. And if you have vision you've spawnbusted already anyhow. Unless, I suppose, you're using airships but at that point who fucking cares about barbs?
