Wyatan, why couldn't you have posted this earlier?! I was too impatient and had planned on riding your coattails!

That might not be a winning strategy, though.

I think Bismark has a 0% chance of winning this. He's got like a 50/50 chance of dying to barbs before he even starts playing the game.

There might be something in the setup of those games that messes with the barbarians (beyond the missing archery tech)...
Or the deity AIs are just so much better at dealing with them ?
Because judging from the past years' wildcard games, hordes of barbarian axemen leveling entire civs doesn't seem in play.
Sure, there's gonna be more barb activity here, owing to the frozen expanses, but they seem to spawn mainly archers sprinkled with the odd spearman.

Coud it be the observer civ (not getting Bronze Working until turn 200) ?
