FWIW it is a 25 player game and a lot of people are taking it casual. I don't think it's impossible to come back from this. I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to say you're not the only person to lose a city. 
And I think having hinduism is a larger asset than you are giving it credit for.
But yeah it's pretty demoralizing.

I feel you on taking breaks between games. It's why I made the map instead. I did my part now I get to sit back and watch the carnage, it's an interesting change of pace. hahaha
