[PB81 Mjmd] Heave Away

No. He couldn't have until this turn (the same turn Naufs fish expired as well for the record). But his stack was in position and he has been building units.

Nauf took peace.

I'm just confused. Was this just a plan to pirate some gold? That is the ONLY logical explanation. He built 2 triemes, 4 galleys, assumingly 8 maces for 250 gold (the city is useless to him). And in exchange he is now in charge of stopping TBS. My goal is just to live this game.

As noted TBS has been building some units, so now I have to decide if I go for construction or finish machinery. I probably do construction to start building cats. They will make my axes relevant vs TBS and I don't get the feeling he actually wants a soon war. Anyways, my point is that this wasn't a coordinated attack.

But ya I had a plan to get AP with my free engineer by accelerating my 2nd GP city to go first launch GA then use GE on AP (unless TBS got a free engineer), but I think I have to give up on that plan. Think I'll just launch a GA in 9 turns.

Whats funny is that I didn't even noticed that TBS did in fact land Christianity. Its possible my plan would have been too slow anyways if TBS has another good overflow chain, but with no modifiers I still maybe could have stolen. Its pretty beefy to manually build. I'll have to do some rough math for my timeline out of curiosity. OH WELL. If only there was someone trying to stop the blatant runaway. IF ONLY. Its not me anymore.

BTW in case it needs to be made clear I'll concede to TBS.

Ah yes the slow land march invasion plan. I wonder if having a war ally would have helped do damage to TBS? And as a reminder I didn't even expect him as a war ally. I expected him to go bet on astro islands. At least his play is consistent. Consistently crazy.

Probably see his concession whenever that stack gets wiped. So then probably just waiting on Xists's.

For the record I could probably have had CoL by now and a GA in about 2 turns. Main limiter actually would have been the engineer as even with GA boost its only 10GP points / turn and there is 100 to go as its now the 200pt one. I wonder if I would have gone for a mixed chance; that's like 10 turns from now which seems slow vs when Christianity was discovered. Edit: can tell I've been sick, obvious solution is to let the engineer finish first and then accelerate the GA.     Bonus fun fact the religion for AP would have been Naufs!

Does the economic edge TBS has warrant concession at this stage? Haven't been following the game super closely since I was eliminated but I am reminded a bit of Ginger/Civac in PB75, where they had a huge GNP lead at one point but geopolitics ultimately did not work in their favor anyway.

Is the plan to join in the fight? Or hope they mutually destroy each other?

So a lot of it has to do with this screen too:

AP is almost guaranteed ad. Again, IF Nauf hadn't hit me I could have contested.

But ya a lot of it is this screen:

He has a guaranteed 2nd GA with music GA anytime he wants, but he may see what his next will be (he got a GS this turn).

So you are facing this and then some nutjob comes in from left field to hit you and disables your economic plays to catch up (CoL and contest AP Edit: oh my Moai city). Your mental state is also that of "curl up in ball under blankets is default".

So ya you might look at the above and go "yep its over". You might go "ya Mjmd got pointlessly hit by Nauf its over". BUT there is hope. And its in the form of a plethora of cottages. Just basic economic stuff. While I have scouted TBSs east much recently (he closed borders this turn for some reason), he has almost no cottages. I Believe he has been working coast and rep specialists. This economy does not scale. Every market I build will provide me way more value than him. Very slowly my cottages will become better than coast. A vast majority of my commerce cities are just getting to their "don't whip anymore and grow stage". I do have a GA of my own coming up and I may go for two. So if Nauf distracts him for long enough could I pull a PB75 economic comeback? Well the land is 1000% times better for it. I probably should undo my concession and get out of my sick funk.

So as both part of my sickness funk and the fact it NEVER occurred to me Nauf would attack TBS after attacking me ( one or both of these attacks has to be wrong, there is 0 worlds where both attacks are correct. But in any case I promised TBS a lot of turns of peace so I will not be. Although I will show up next turn with a couple triremes asking for open borders back. My fear is this is actually an elaborate ruse to get me to drop my guard and I have somewhat. I had a lot of chops saved for units I've let go, but I am still researching construction followed by machinery. But yes if Nauf can distract and weaken TBS for the next 20 turns that would be nice.

You are telling me there is a chance.

And

Heck I might even avoid machinery tech. What are the odds Nauf pointlessly attacks me AGAIN? crazyeye

I will still be building a cat stack.

Whats the tech path?

A very small part of me wants to still try to steal AP, but its just too long now. Sure TBS MIGHT have been delayed by the war, but I was set back pretty far.

So before GA I want mono for org religion. Start spreading Naufs religion around. Then code of laws for some juicy org courthouses. Followed by monarchy and feudalism for some civic swaps before end of GA. Boring stuff really.

After that there are some decisions to make. If I make it to end of GA without being attacked we shall see.

Haul Her Away

You get a good Sean Dagher song here due to GA TIME!!!! Finally settled SD copper this turn. Will settler filler west of his capital in 4 turns.

Am I still 2/3 of TBS in a GA? Sure sure. Does mine last 2/3 as long. Sure. But again TBS isn't my problem anymore. That is Nauf of doesn't have open borders with TBS and TBS has knights. Coincidence I'm deviating to HBR for Elephants? NO. A ele cat stack isn't a threat to TBS, but it will be a deterrent / attack Nauf instead of me please. Nauf does have carracks, but none my way (although 4 galleys still over here). I am still trying to balance buildings vs units. I did still go into org religion this turn and start 2 missionaries, but I did not start the 3rd as Schooner Moonlight is a front line city so it will finish that cat.
