Nicolae Carpathia and Selrahc bring about World Peace, UHC, Apocalypse as Sheaim

It's up to you whether you tell him.

I can't imagine him thinking you're having more barb troubles than you are will be a bad thing for you, but if you're wanting to develop a good alliance with him then being open is fine.

I come bearing screens and diplo!

First things first, we got an event earlier:

Desperately needed, we were on the bottom of the population charts for a long time due to lack of food tiles, worker first and barb harass.

Mining just came in, and that putative city site got even better:

So, get 4 warriors together, and kill that little bastard?

Finally, a reply for Gaspar:
Quote:Hey Nicolae,

Yeah, so I give you a hard time and then don't respond to you for a week. Can't even claim I haven't had time as I have viciously post-spammed all over RB. More that there really isn't much to say. Unless you're /Bar, the early turns are really about you vs. the wild than you vs. the other players, it seems.

My scouts both ended up snack food as well - you saw Cheech's untimely demise, Chong bit it in the NW to another Giant Spider. We really haven't the resources to go out and try to get any more exploring done, but I'm quite interested in seeing what the west looks like, both west of my lands and west of yours. I feel like we're quite isolated from the rest of the world, though that may be down to everyone's scouts getting eaten more than the geography. As agreed, I'll let you know should I ever run into a neighbor.

Good to hear about the death of that Lizardman, I appreciate the heads up. I haven't run into any other baddies in the area between us, so I don't have anything exciting to tell you, though there is a bear north of my cap who has forced me to do quite a little dance. Looking forward to having something stronger than clubs to beat them with in the future. I'll take the compliment on the score for what its worth, mostly that Creative gets 3rd ring land points faster than everyone else. I don't have much of a C&D department, but unless I'm smoking something stronger than Cheech was, looks like the Grigori and Balseraphs have been pretty lucky with huts/lairs. I think Grigori's gotten at least 2 hut techs, the bastards. smile

Anything new and exciting in Sheaim lands, we're hitting enter a lot in the forests.

Regards,
Gaspar

Hey Gaspar,

No prob, I know what it feels like to not be able to think of anything interesting to say. Most of my mental energy has been in my PBEM18 game (as you can tell by the postcount differential). Also, I swear you popped a tech on T2, lucky! I've had rather weak luck with huts myself, just gold, here's to landing some good events!

Cheers,
Nicolae

If only you'd had an extra 26g for that event! A free settler! alright

Still haven't opened up the save. Should I feel disappointed frown?

Huh, I thought I updated earlier. Maybe it was my imagination.

Gaspar switched into Godking and Agrarianism. Bummer, that means he can pump out a settler faster than I can.

Our cap. I'm going for maximum growth here. Should I mine the hill or start a farm next turn?

Our copper is "guarded" by a lizardman ruin. That sucks, how many warriors will it take for us?

Any suggestions or comments?

And oh yeah, we got diplo:

Quote:Hi Nicolae,

Aye, not much going on still. We did indeed pop a tech from a hut early on (may have been T2, memory isn't quite what it used to be) unfortunately since then, luck hasn't quite been on the side of the elves with huts (actually haven't seen many of those) or lairs. In fact, we nearly violated our NAP a couple turns ago when you had some save issues - we were so stressed out over the possibility that we had unleashed a Mistform that some of my lurkers advocated attacking you out of spite for holding up that turn. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed. (Kidding on all of that, of course, wouldn't want you to think I'd actually break my word.) Fortunately, there was no mistform and life goes on. A harsh lesson about the risks of popping lairs in your own backyard. Gotta do something to make these turns more interesting, though.

How's things in Sheaim lands? The Elvish C&D department is pretty convinced you're on a strict BW beeline - just hoping to get the jungle cleared quickly, I've reassured the lurkers. For some reason, the idea of zombies lit afire seems to freak out the normally cool-headed Elves, such prudes I tell you. Have you discovered anything interesting yet, or better yet, run into any other Civs? I feel awfully isolated in our little corner of the world. I'm still quite curious as to how much land lays west of your starting position, I'm wondering if the coast of the continent is oddly shaped or if that water is really large lake. Whatever it is, ErebusContinent certainly throws up some strange maps.

That's all the news fit to print, really still a whole lot of mashing enter. Really wish we could have worked out a blitz at some point.

Regards,
Gaspar

4 or so. Depending on what lair opening methods you'll be using. 4 will definitely kill the lizard.

I'm actually thinking you should settle on the plains hill next to your city sign. Getting the bonus defence and hammer will be good, and the rice is already in your cultural radius.

Good idea, surprised I didn't see that. There's no lack of hills for production, and my land is fairly food starved. I feel like it's safe to briefly delay BW, should we go for calendar after exploration?
Reply

Calendar would basically be for Agrarianism... Although there isn't much benefit in rushing for Bronze Working until we find a viable target. Might as well get a few bonus food by pushing for Calendar.

Yeah, I'd definitely need more food, I've been running off a +2F surplus from my city centre tile for a long time. Now that I have a grassland wines... I have a +3F surplus dance
