By the way, has anyone setup a WB save with the specific map dimensions/difficulty to check exactly what we're looking at in terms of maintenance? Double fin of course needs it to be as high as we are expecting.

It's tough to say since there are so many underlying factors going into city maintenance. As a start though, the second city plant is going to instantly bump city maintenance to -2GPT unless the capital is size 3 or lower and the city itself is only three spaces away.

-If city 2 is three spaces away, we'll hit -3GPT when it hits size 8/9 (dependant on capital size)
-If city 2 is four spaces away, we'll hit -3GPT when it hits size 5/6
-If 5 spaces away, we'll hit -3GPT at size 3
-6 spaces away we'll hit -3GPT at size 2 if not instantly

Note I'm not taking civic costs into account yet. This is mostly just an exercise but I think early on it'd be good to examine the thresholds of when the actual GPT ticks upwards depending on what situation we're in.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was meaning just distance maintenance, which I believe we should be able to know just based on knowing the map dimensions and difficulty, right?

If Mansa is still there on the way back I think that would be strongest and then just ignore the mids personally (maybe try to oracle currency?). Double cottage spam cheese is prett boring, and yet also quite effective.

Depending on the level of happiness resources, I could see Monarchy, although with this in theory being a rich map not sure if we'd need it. MC I would have to be convinced on--if we aren't going the forge to mids route not sure I see it being terribly useful.

Depending on the map setup, maybe GLH wouldn't be terrible. Depends on what scouting reveals though.

Personally, I'm really torn. Mansa would be better for getting the FIN bonus on all those coastal tiles right off the bat, but Gandhi just 'feels' right. We can make WK's plan work with either leader, though obviously it will work better with Gandhi.

I'd really like a wb sim to know exactly what distance maintenance will be like (sorry for not doing it myself, but I'm terrible at worldbuilder stuff and have no idea how to make a sim certain dimensions) but I think I'd have to say Mansa tentatively.

I'll post my vote before I head out of town this afternoon. But right now I'm marginally preferring Mansa to Gandhi.

Also, Smackdown totally took my first pick idea (Mehmed/Darius of Sumer)

ORG is not as bad as you guys say, if Superjm's chart proves nothing else.

With that in mind, we should consider Zara and Asoka, or grab HRE (terrible starting techs, I know) with this pick.
