The turns are flying by, and I had no time for simming. So I went with the wheel. It will be needed to connect horses, in any case:
I was thinking of settling the second city 3N of the capital and popping its borders with meditation. It's a tech detour, but it also gives me one more AH tile, so I think it could work. (I haven't heard from Mackoti in a while, so I'm allowing myself to slip into the singular pronouns. )
As noted, I went for the "safe" fast route, just making it past Dazed's capital before his warrior completed. Circumnavigation is close:
Interestingly, neither Novice nor Boldly opened worker-warrior, because their capitals are still size 1.
If you know what I mean.

i am still around.well we need to know about map more before deciding, if we go for a meditation pop borders should worth to do that for a city which has no borders with capitol.
About novice i can bet he gone setler after worker and same that he is after circumanaivigation too, and he has 2 big adavantages:
he will pop borders at turn 13 and i think its nefore us in order turn.
I seen you dont use to much your gmal account which you gave me, we could talk more there.

Chatting with Mackoti, it looks like we agree on 3N as a tentative second city, but more scouting may change things. We'll do polytheism instead of meditation, though, since it's on the path to organized religion. The capital will start a settler at size 2 (i.e. next turn), and complete it in 6 turns while the worker improves the cows and plains deer. Then we road the plains deer, and the tile north of it, to connect the second city.

That border pop will really be extremely well timed for Novice. It's going to win him the race, I think.
Our scout found a deer on the west coast.
One piece of good news: a forest growth in the capital, when I ended turn.

We're teching the wheel faster than in the sandbox, so the tech that Boldly got on T6 was The Wheel. He started with Hunting and Agriculture, so maybe he is going for a fast Pottery.
Here's the sandbox:

And here's a picture from the sandbox:

The wheel completed, will start on polytheism next. The capital is building a settler, and also has 4 hammers in a warrior. I think it should build a worker next though, letting two of those hammers decay. More scouting has revealed the following:
What is that warrior doing moving NE you say? Well, I made a really silly couple of mistakes. First of all, I didn't realize that the warrior could shave a turn off circumnavigation by heading south. Even if he would be moving onto flat land after three turns, he could have spotted a hill two tiles away. To add insult to injury, I was playing the turns in an extreme rush and evidently managed to NOT move the warrior at all on the turn he was born. I must have clicked the flashing fortify button without registering it with my conscious mind. So we lost a turn of scouting, too. I've really been kicking myself for those mistakes, as if we didn't have enough stacked against us in terms of getting circumnavigation.
And sure enough, this turn the log shows the following:

Also note there's an island off the west coast.

This may be incorrect. I had to remove the wheel from him in the sandbox to make the tech rates match now. So maybe it was just a sandbox error. *shrug*
