The Pen vs The Sword (Gandhi of NA)

Turn 112

Followed instructions where possible.

Temporary unhappiness in Wesmere means we have to work 3 Merchants this turn, up to 4 next turn with the Wine connected.

Presume you meant Fort Tahn for the city pushing culturally for the Spices.

Also presume you mean a Crab rather than a Fish at Basilisk Caves.

I feel you've got Silverhead rather underdefended at the moment, but I couldn't see any way to improve the situation this turn without leaving the Workers vulnerable.

Thanks Parkin, I was able to get in, so I looked around a bit. I changed a few things based on preference. Only big thing was in Wesmere; I have HR so I put an extra dog in to get rid of that unhappiness.

Yep, sorry.

Sorry, didn't notice you had Hereditary Rule last turn... glad you fixed it. smile

Turn 113

Accidentally mismoved one of the Workers at Blackwater Bay onto a forest rather than the grassland to cottage. Sorry about that. Otherwise all according to plan.

Checked your earlier post and you said you were on the cruise until next week, so will play early in the turn until I hear otherwise so as not to hold up xenu. smile

Turn 114

Metal Casting in, saving gold.

Founded the new city on the island.

Played quickly as someone else was trying to connect to me, will check back later in the turn to switch to Feudalism and a Galley in Silverhead amongst other things.

Hey Parkin,

Couple of other thoughts based on your pictures, I know they weren't final so some of these might be pointless.

Cahokia: Work an artist? I assume the WB is on the way.
Fallenstar: This should be off artists now I think, since it popped third ring?
Tahn: Same here, should be off artists now. Is Furungy still at war with Dazed? If so, we can probably fit a Forge in here, otherwise, I like another catapult.

I'd probably send that Dan Tonk missionary to Wesmere, and then use the chop coming in there to complete another missionary for Freelands, building wealth if necessary to hold the chop hammers. Then one more missionary in Dan Tonk and Blackwater for Cahokia and Hornshark to complete the set.

Thanks again, hopefully I'll be able to play again tomorrow evening.

I have a little bit of time, for a little bit of update. Two pictures I found:

As Xenu probably reported, he razed Silverhead, my city on the southern coast. His borders then expanded so I can't resettle properly and he gets his fish back for good. I was a bit bummed out about that because I don't think it would have happened if I hadn't had the period away. Not that it's Parkin's fault, if I left the garrison in place that he did, I would have been fine. But I meant to flood the place with military while I had peace with Furungy and get the coastal improvements done. Instead I gambled on the fact that Xenu wouldn't have a second galley and split my garrison to cover my workers. I thought he might not have bothered building the second galley because up to that point I had kept a garrison to deal with it.

In retrospect, I think I should just have left the worker uncovered, and tested Xenu's resolve of sacrificing a unit for it.

Anyway, that sort of convinced me my dwindling hopes of winning are gone and I plan to prioritise some fun plays a bit more. For a start, I got my GM and bulbed CS, turned research on Machinery. I'm going to single whip a lot of dogs into maces and then single whip the maces to completion. Then I'm going to attack Furungy. Actually I was going to attack Furungy a bit early since dazed seemed to be putting a lot of pressure on him but the turn before I was going in dazed took peace. So, I'll delay a bit, get my maces ready and hopefully Dazed will join in. This is probably my best play at the moment too, besides being fun, since the variance is so high.

After that we'll see where we are. If I get into a good position I may take things seriously. If I don't ... well I'd like to roleplay a nice neighbour to Dazed, not the same thing with Jojo but he's been pretty friendly since our borders stabilised. So no-one to fight on my continent ... I wouldn't mind trying a seaborne invasion of Xenu. We'll see.

I'm actually pulling further garrisons off my Joey border at the minute, testing that friendship. High risk plays and all that. I'm sure the demos above are at a temporary high, I've already started whipping a bit.

Weldyn is finally reclaiming it's place in the world order:

(Oh, and tentative date for Furungy attack is T127, unless he wants to kick it off early).
