[SPOILERS] JR4 tries his luck in PB 37

Heh, I already swapped the build of Bulugan a couple of times before pressing end of turn. It was supposed to make a Longbow for itself or Danashri, as every port city should have a decent defender at minimum. Still, it makes a lot of sense for Bulugan to crank out Knights. As you noted, it has the advantage of being able to make 3 promo Knights so it`s now building that instead. We`re a little light on Catapults on the Oghul Qaimish front, so I`ll keep that in mind. A big Knight/War Elephant/Catapult stack sounds good. But we probably need some other units in that stack if Joey builds a lot of Pikes.

Also, here are a few screenshots of the rest of the world. Note that Babukhan has been whipped down to size 3 (!) for some reason. We know that Gavagai built at least one Knight there but who knows what he`s up to.. China is falling quickly. Maybe I should have put Greece on top of the t150 ranking list. Krill really needs to make peace with Couerva and do something about Greece.

And we have yet another pause. What is it about PB 37 and long pauses? This time, Krill is unhappy about someone double moving him. According to Civstats, it`s probably Gavagai. But then, Gavagai can`t attack Krill if he double moved him.. I`m not sure of what to make of that.

I perfectly understand how the pressure of playing a turn every single day (at least in principle) can lead to exhaustion. Signing up for a game that lasts for a year or even more is pretty crazy! I tried to read up on your PB3 game but sadly none of the screenshots show up. So I just skipped it. But maybe I`ll read it later.

Also, attacking Dark Savant is by no means out of the cards. I`d like someone else to attack DS first but Tulearean Forest and Mist are legitimate goals for us, especially after we get Galleons to play with. It looks like both cities are going to be pretty hard to attack so we might have to land big stacks next to them in order to breach the defenses.

Yeah, Krill's double-move comment in the tech thread was clear as mud. I guess it could have been something like, "If Coeurva (or someone else I'm thinking of attacking unexpectedly) plays late, I might miss my play window and need a pause in order to avoid double-moving them." I dunno. He seems to be playing his turn now, so hopefully that's all it was.

I think I have most of those screenies still stored on this computer, but it'll take a lonnnnnng time before I can get them all uploaded again. Also, I'd advise against reading that thread (or any reasonably-complete thread for that game) unless you're feeling tempted to play a full-diplo game and need a reminder of why this should never, ever be done under any circumstances ever again. There are a few high points in the thread (and there were a few in the game) - and our civ was actually doing really well when the game was finally, mercifully put out of its misery, but it was a mistake for us to participate (and for the site to run the game; Krill once called that game something like "The Divorce-Maker." Full diplo with fifteen teams was just a horrible, horrible idea.) And you can see that playing out in a number of different places in our thread.

I'm glad we've not run out of exciting times ahead! I'm looking forward to seeing how this (and the rest) plays out!

(Also, have a great day! I'm finally turning in for the night....)

TURN 153

The big news of the turn is that we have another war declaration. Dark Savant wants revenge on Couerva! Unfortunately, we`re not in a position to pile on (Dark Savant) just yet. If he just could have waited another 10 or so turns... Well, it really looks like Couerva`s decision to attack Krill has come back to haunt him. Couerva`s  power also took a hit so he could be in trouble here. A lot of cities have been traded between Krill and Coueva, it just shows how incredibly hard it is to defend island cities on this map. Joey captured the Chinese capital this turn. PB 37 looks to me to turn into a two horse race. And we`re stuck between the super powers! That`s pretty hilarious.

Another Longbow will go to Vulcania next turn. It could use an extra strong defender. Toregene borrowed the Rice from Borte and will grow in 2 turns. We`re basically preparing for the Golden Age that will start on t155. In order to finish Calendar eot at 60 % science we had to let Nambui build Wealth for a turn (and a few cities are working Scientists). I think it`s worth having the option of building Plantations a turn early. Also, Borte`s Bank will finish just in time for our gold-saving.

Note that Optics gave us visibility on the tile N of Babukhan, where a single Ottoman Galley was spotted. Still nothing too scary but we should make sure that D-mishi is safe.

Graphs and demos: As already noted, Couerva might be in trouble. His mfg and crop yield went down a lot.

We really need more land to stay relevant in this game. 144 tiles is just over half of the leader`s count.

If you have the time and energy to restore those screenshots sometime, I`d be happy to read your thread. Some of the early games here at RB that had full diplo did indeed cause a lot of bad blood between the players (I`ve read quite a few of those threads already). Turning to AI diplo surely is a very good idea, there is certainly less drama now than back in the days. Regarding Pitboss 3, I read the lurker thread a long time ago (but after the game had finished). 15 teams conducting full diplo does indeed sound like a recipe for disaster.

TURN 154

So, just for fun, does anyone want to predict which Great Person will be born in Oghul Qaimish!? It`s not that important actually, as we`re using it to start our first Golden Age.

The turn brought some very good news. Now the Khatunate, the Ottomans and the Greek share the same religion. Yes, that`s right, Joey swapped to Buddhism. We can`t complain about that obviously. To me it looks like Gavagai and Joey perceive Krill as a bigger threat and therefore goes with our religion instead. A couple of Great Generals were born this turn. This doesn`t bode well for chumchu. Also, Joey got another Great Person, a Merchant. Also, Dark Savant built the Chichen Itza. Tulearean Forest now has +125 % defense!

3 cities started Caravels (Nambui, Danashri and Sugabala). Note the Ethiopian Caravel sneaking around near Radnashiri. It will get another Longbow in a few turns, we can`t afford to put it at risk.

As the Bank completed in Borte, our gold saving rate got a whole lot better. Now we`re making +314 gpt! Of course, Muqa`s Bank is going to be absolutely awesome for our economy. It makes 109 gold this turn. Let`s see on t155 when we start our GA and the Bank completes! Research was set to Astronomy, though we might be better off by getting Engineering first. Another (crazy) option would be to go for Christianity for Theocracy and The Apostolic Palace. Thoughts?

Finally, note that dtay has a fair few units in FAQ. He might suspect something, though we`re not attacking him now. 4 Workers started a Banana Plantation and were covered by a War Elephant and a Spear. Imo, 4 Workers are a bit too much to leave unprotected.

Graphs and demos: As Joey`s Golden Age came to an end the demos can finally be compared again easily. (EDIT: I forgot that Dark Savant is still in a GA). We`re very close to being 4th in mfg and we somehow overtook Couerva and Krill (probably) so we`re 4th in crop yield also. Did I mention that I`m looking forward to our Golden Age!?

Borte also started a Knight as we need to boost our power rating a bit.

Uh, I just checked Civstats. Dtay whipped a massive 9 (!) times this turn. The plans for a spell in Caste System are out now. Maybe we should offer him another fish-for-fish deal. This time there is a real chance that dtay`s coming for us, though I think (hope) he`s going to attack Carthage instead. Anyway, we should build more units to look like a harder target. If he`s attacking us we`re stuck in the first half of the timer and won`t have a lot of time to react..

In the worst case scenario dtay will surely look to conquer Muqa as a minimum. Capturing Chubei won`t do him much good as Muqa`s culture is swamping the northern lands.

I changed my mind and logged in to set research to Engineering instead of Astronomy. We really can`t move around troops quickly enough without that. When I had a look around, something very strange was spotted. Look at this screenshot. Dtay`s Workers built a road on that dye! I can`t think of any reason why he`d build a road there, except as preparation for an attack. Are we allowed to do a lot of whips after dtay has played? We`re not technically in a turn split yet so I thought I`d ask lurkers anyway.
