Finally in here!
Quickly skimmed the lurker thread (skipping stuff that I didn't know which will take a while to catch up on) so I'll just quote a few comments from this thread that sum up a few thoughts: Ellimist Wrote:It sucks for WK that he's taking over for a 12 year old. Pretty much. Had I known what I was getting into, I would have thought twice before joining but someone had to do it. Probably wouldn't do it again though. scooter Wrote:I don't have a massive problem with what WarriorKnight is trying to do (like I said, it's better than handing out freebies), though I guess I can see where there's some frustration about it. The thought I have that makes it acceptable to me - is that when you attack someone, you make it your problem. Plako reaped the rewards of attacking someone in the ancient age, but the drawback is that if you don't finish the job, you've made an enemy for good. I think that's perfectly acceptable if it doesn't carry over to another game - your nation got invaded opportunistically, so it's perfectly within your right to make their life miserable for knocking you out of contention. That's mostly okay with me actually. Yep, China had crippled but not eliminated Greece, so why shouldn't Greece try and get revenge? I will of course not hold a grudge against plako in another game, but in this game Greece had every right to try and make China's life miserable. EDIT: Although thanks to my earlier post-game comment in my spoiler thread, I really did have little choice. I had assumed earlier that plako would declare on me T110 regardless of what I did (which was incorrect) and hence prepared for it. By the time I realized that plako didn't plan on attacking me I had invested too much into war (the slider was probably breakeven 30% when the war began, with less cities than the majority of civs). Now, I could've placed higher by taking the NAP and waiting for plako to come for me, but I can honestly say that it was an extremely unappealing option to me. bato Wrote:His tactical moves arent that great because I dont think he is that interested in the game anymore. I think his biggest mistake was not initiating diplo with plako right of the start. Yeah, if I was more interested I probably wouldn't have made as many mistakes. Oh well, the result was inevitable anyway. Diplomacy with plako would've been very difficult thanks to extorting Sparta, but I agree that it probably could've been a bit better than the complete silence during the NAP. Gold Ergo Sum Wrote:That said, Rego didn't "trick" WK out of the workers. He merely asked for them, and WK gave them away because he was so checked out of the game that he could care less, other than plako not getting them. The only skill Rego exhibited was the naked self-interest to ask for them. IMO anyway. Gold Ergo Sum Wrote:To me, there is a distinct difference between this scenario, and just asking for the workers and getting them for nothing. Rego claims that he received the two workers from WK in exchange for a city spot, but that was not WK's understanding--and probably not Rego's either considering his plan to capture it ASAP. These two posts are correct. rego asked for the workers after we had agreed on planting the far away city, and I gave them to him since I didn't really care by that stage (although I should've realized that it wasn't exactly in the spirit of the rules). I certainly didn't offer them in exchange for the city spot. With Adlain however, I offered to let him capture them in exchange for razing Zion before plako captured my last city. Granted, I can realize that it could be considered a uneven deal to anyone else but I really wanted to just get the game over with. Gold Ergo Sum Wrote:Trying to enforce the rules as written and do the right thing is tough. GES, thanks for being and continuing to be the game Admin, it certainly isn't an easy job.
Honestly, I am glad to see you put out of your misery WK. You played honorably, and I know it wasn't much fun for you in the end.

Warrior Knight, you made a good play with a bad hand, so kudos to you.

Yeah, I think plako's recent aggressiveness towards rego is going to backfire spectacularly and throw the game to LP.

This game is damn close to being over. With Sankore, Spiral Minaret and shrines, LP will be doing serious gold at 100% research, and decent research at 0%. Unless the world sees that 1000+ GNP and freaks out, LP is going to swallow up Luddite while keeping plako and Rego busy with each other, before turning his attentions to plako. If someone throws a wrench in the plan for LP, honestly, it will probably have to be Gaspar deciding he would rather prevent LP from winning than anything else.

I feel the same. They can call it a game infavor of LP. From what I know, Nakor doesn't take many risks.....
edit: The funny thing is, nobody realizes that LP can do 700+ bpt at breakeven... Gold Ergo Sum Wrote:This game is damn close to being over. With Sankore, Spiral Minaret and shrines, LP will be doing serious gold at 100% research, and decent research at 0%.

Regoarrar working with LP makes a ton of sense if he's looking to finish in 2nd place. That's not very much like him, so I don't understand what he's thinking at the moment. He seems to believe LP's reasons for why Rego will be able to keep up long-term, and I think those reasons are crazy and I'm surprised Regoarrar is unable to see through them.
