*raises hand* i'm in ...

Darrelljs ... i can think of two ways to do it

randomized Groups (should be possible) which qualifies to a final

Only running one game against each player at a time, but would probably make the tourney much longer as you'd have to finish two games in a row instead of two games simultaneously

I guess if you have ranomdised groups, top half qualify for the 'A' final and the bottom half for the 'B' final?

And yes we normally play just 1 game per opponent at a time, if we didnt do that last time round it would have been me messing up the league set up

So long as we have less than ~10 players, I think I prefer the same system as last time. (I.e. two consecutive rounds, with ~9 concurrent games in each round.) We could always increase the timer to three days, so people who get overwhelmed have the option to sandbag a bit.

If we do want to split up into groups, we should probably seed them according to our (over-)ratings?
If you know what I mean.

theres two different ways to make groups, from a theoretic standpoint

Random groups, which qualifies to a final group (ie, like say, group play in assorted WC's or tournements)

Seeded groups which play completely independent of each other (different divisions, semiindependent of each other)

I was thinking seeding in the sense that the top N rated players are randomly distributed into two halves, before the rest of the players are mixed in. So we don't risk that those N players all end up in the same group. So if all of the players perform according to their rating, the best players will be able to make it to the A final.
If you know what I mean.

I'm not going to play because I don't like databases. So my other opinions don't matter.

If we did a no-database toury it would have to be unrated because databases being allowed are part of the Chess.com rules.

That only helps when you aren't OCD smile.

Oh that's a good point.

I will play regardless, but I WON'T use a database. Feel free to use one against me, however.
