If we play without databases then MJW would join (if I understood him right).

What exactly is the difference between a database and an opening book? I guess it boils down to those statistical breakdowns, as well as the ability to look up specific positions that have only really occurred in a few games. So long as people are comfortable with me reading up a little on the openings that I'm facing, I'm on board with banning databases. (E.g., if you play a gambit against me, I'm allowed to read up on the general ideas about how to play it, but I won't be using a database to guide me through it step by step.)
If you know what I mean.

When I played with Gustaran we banned opening books too for exactly that reason, Zak.
Don't worry about this as the tournament would take too long for me for too little reward now that Gustaran is not playing. The "A final" makes things much worse. I would easily make it in so literally most of my games would be meaningless.
Well, if it's high rewards you are after, JamesBCrazy has a much higher rating than Gustaran.

Still, my rating is inflated by playing a lot of weaker opponents. I'm really around the ~1850 range.

What the hell... I signed up. Could have pretty dramatic consequences for my rating, considering the spread.
