Given my grandmother was Norwegian I wonder if I am eligible mischief?

For those who haven't been following Norway Chess, there was a real marathon game in round 7 between Giri and Karyakin that lasted for over 130 moves, ending after the commentators had gone home. smile

It's worth checking out. One of the players missed a very beautiful win while they were both down to just 30 seconds per move.

That's the risk of pushing too hard for a win in a drawn position with time trouble. It worked out for Giri in the Blitz round, but not against Karyakin.

Also, go Agdestein dancing

Fun game I was in.

Pay no attention to the smoke move I made that let him skewer my queen on move 18 lol

At that point, while nominally only slightly behind in material, I concocted a grand scheme to get him with a back-rank checkmate, which took about 15 move to pull off. Granted I'm sure he (and I both) made some blunders but I thought it was interesting

I just ran the chess.com analysis and man we both made some really bad moves in that one smoke lol

This is one of my recent games. If my opponent played 20...0-0 instead of ...Rg8??, he's still slightly worse imo but he wouldn't have lost that badly.

Let's show off our nicest blitz finishes (and pay no attention to our frequent losses):
