Is that right - you go from 300 to 538 GNP just by swinging the slider? That doesn't sound right - you couldn't possibly have that many science multipliers with just libraries? If it is true, then sounds like what's missing is markets?

Markets are indeed missing, I noted that a while back, I only have a single one in Satsuma. I will get them up once I'm done with wealth build-assisted essential techs

These include the various bonuses you get on tech, prerequisite and ktb.

Of course, I am researching a tech everyone else knows. I'm not trying to paint a rosy picture here I'm under no illusion, my score is inflated by wonders, and I'm well behind Scooter. I do think I am the closest challenger, and ultimately still in with a chance

Oh, that explains it, Code of Laws has two arrow prerequisites plus max known tech bonus. I was having no idea how just swinging the slider could account for 300 GNP with only libraries.

I've tested this with the current version of CtH, and it does work as intended, including the UI updating correctly, so it looks like you haven't met the requirements somehow? Let's see ... there should be plenty of water since this is an archipelago, and you've obviously had optics for more than a full turn. How long ago did you actually circumnavigate? Did you get the message ("Your maps have proven that the world is round!") in the turn log? Or ... actually, squinting at your mini-map: Is it possible world wrap is set to Toroidal? If so, you'd have to circumnavigate North-South as well as East-West. (And then I think there's a one-turn delay before the harbors start getting the bonus, unless that's only for getting Optics.)

Thanks for testing! No, I don't recall getting the circumnavigation message in the log, and found it weird at the time. It does work correctly in Pitboss 80. A toroidal map is a good guess!

Took a map trade SD offered. The map is indeed toroidal, and now I got the circumnav message

Bing is bringing defenders from Lemuria over to attack Ise. This will be bloody
I could upgrade one of the archers to a longbow next turn, before the attack goes ahead. But my goal is still to inflict maximum casualties on Bing without investing anything into city defence. So don't think I will do that. Getting to Civil Service and Paper is more important
Seeing Scooter's new island cities, which are completely undefended. Need to think if I want to look at them more closely once I finally have access to galleons

Bing brought even more units
So yeah, the city is falling. The real question is, what next, and do I take peace if Bing offers it
On one hand, Scooter has a bunch of barely defended islands which would be nice to contest
On the other, he is at privateers and one tech away from frigates. Attacking someone with superior ships on an archipelago map sounds suicidal
Bing still doesn't have Machinery, although he does have 600g in the bank and will get some capture gold, he should get there soon. He is still some distance away from Astro though. I think Bing is still the samurai target - the only question is, how long will it take me to build up the army, and would I benefit from 10 turns of enforced peace. Considering it will take me 3 or 4 turns to even research Civil Service, the answer is probably
Another consideration is that I still have 6 swords on boats, who can try to raze Lemuria now that he moved most units out of the city (wish I foresaw this move and had the swords closer to the action in case he did it). Would that be beneficial?
All in all, still thinking. Tbf I don't even know if he will offer peace - just want to have the decision made if I see it offered when I login next turn
