[SPOILERS] Beyond the Shadows with Mist and Ellimist - Varn of the Sidar

Okay, how does the situation change, here?

First, the Priests are all C1 now. That will make things a bit tougher, but wasn't really a surprise. No units are showing the promotion "glow" now, so hopefully that's all for promotions(shock could be a problem!)

Second, he's giving us time for more warriors in Neo. Unfortunately, we can't "mist" them, so we won't be able to use them for a surprise. However, this does mean that we don't really have to kill all 3 priests any more to win. If we can kill off 2 out of 3, that should be good enough for a stalemate or better. When we had nothing held in reserve, we had a much more strict definition of victory.

Edit: Ah, nuts. I just realized I forgot to back the warriors up a space. If he moves 1E of them and realizes he can't summon elementals, he's probably going to cast slow instead and we experience epic fail.

I shouldn't play a turn first thing in the morning just because I can.

Sounds more like lose-lose for them. It does nothing if the Illians destroy you, and it locks off a good chunk of their ability to exploit a wounded neighbour if you win.

If they agree to a peace with us, we either A) die to the priests or B) kill the priests.

If the Illians destroy us, the Hippus stance is irrelevant.

If we can hold off the Illians, the Hippus benefit. If they won't leave us alone afterward, why would we even try?

That's the situation whether they agree to the NAP or not.

The NAP itself only acts as a guarantee that they can't profit off your misfortune by launching an invasion when you're weakened after the priests.

They might sign it anyway, but it definitely isn't a "Win-Win" for them.

I guess it's more of a way for us to gauge whether they intend to profit from our misfortune, and how soon.

There's no good reason for them to object unless they intend to attack soon, which is why it's prudent for us to ask.

Of course, my tactical blunder is likely to sink us anyway, but I'd rather make sure a victory(however unlikely) won't be wasted.

I guess we should have tested about ice elementals and FP. Jeez I had the correct terrain in the sim and everything, but I never tested the assumption.
