He added 3 spears and an axe. That's a lot of defenders - I probably can't take it in one turn. Maybe I should go attack B4ndit instead. Or, I can hit the leader and maybe TT will pile on, too.

ouch - one of the things that I've noticed doesn't actually happen in MP games is dogpiles on the leader.
that cannot be said here. TT has declared on eastways, probably for an aggressive city plants.
Now, I have declared:
that's going to be tight, I think - 21 hitters (assuming he doesn't hit me with a stack of cats I don't see) on maybe 11 or 13 defenders behind walls. Dropping off the cho-ko-nu will help, i think.
It might take a couple of turns - my guess is that 2 cho-ko-nu survive the intiial attack (one nice thing about cho-ko-nu is that they get a lot of XP, since xp is based on relative strength which doesn't take into account drill, so if they win, they should promote), maybe 10 of the HA and the axe will move forward. I should have an extra 2 or 3 HA moving up for turn 2, though a lot of the HA will be pretty badly hurt.

I did not take Dale (unsurprisingly) - I lost 7 HA and 3 cho-ko-nu, but I killed a bunch of his defenders and hurt a bunch more, including a CGIIi archer and a GG spear.
depending on how the spears heal and how many others he can get there (there's one I see, but it might end up targeted by my surviving cho-ko-nu anyway), I might be able to take it next turn. Or maybe not - is very interesting.
Pics later.
he also built MoM.
Some more detail - he had 9 spears (a GG spear with combat II and formation), 3 axes and 3 archers (one of which was CG III). None of his other units were promoted.
I attacked with 4 cho-ko-nu, 3 with drill i, one unpromoted, 1 unpromoted chariot and 15 HA, 8 of which were shock, 1 was combat 2, 1 had sentry and the rest were Combat 1.
The end results were this:
I got a little lucky there - should have won 8 battles, actually won 9. Lost 9, had 3 withdrawals. Add in an axe and 3 fresh HA and, with promos from xp, I should have 1 cho-ko-nu, 1 axe, a chariot and 6 HA that can reasonably attack - maybe a couple of more HA if need be. My guess is that if i don't finish it off this turn, I won't, but we'll see.
In other news - I switched to OR, so another 5 turns of police state before I can go to rep.

I took Dale and the great lighthouse!!
eastways had 2 good spears, so I lost quite a few HA, but my cho-ko-nu survived. Actually, he probably has something to bitch about, since I lost 7 battles and should probably have lost 8 - but then, I had a bunch of HA that didn't attack to move in. They are all beat to crap of course, so the city should be safe as long as they aren't a ton a numidian's around. I'll be able to heal some of them, move in a reasoably well healed chokonu and axe and 3 fully healed HA next turn, 2 more fresh chok-ko-nu in 2 turns.
Pics later.
Eastway fired off his GA and did a big civics switch - bureau, theo, buddhism and one other.
I dunno if I can get that other city or not - not sure what it is even, to negotiate for it. I'll have to sac an HA to find out, i guess.
pics in a few.
Setup for battle:
I got a little lucky - should have won 7, won 8. But I think I might have taken it, anyway. Not sure.
This is the defense. If he had 9 attackers, he'd take it back easily. if he does not, I'll have plenty of defense.

eastway is bleeding cities now - he lost pyke to TT.
He asked for peace. I offered it back to him for his city west of Dale, which it turns out is Kotiiron (sp)
I dunno if he'll take it or not - it might be a bad idea to offer, but I'd like to get some time in Representation soon and, frankly, attacking a guy in a 9 turn golden age isn't all that much fun.
Going to try to make a bunch of 1 hex island cities now - take advantage of the lighthouse.
So - settling plans. With this lighthouse and collosus, any coastal site is fine - just need a granary and a lighthouse and let 'em grow for awhile, eventually pick up a market and run a couple of merchants when they run out of coast tiles.
I'm about to settle that 1-hex island (green circle). The Red circle is a site I want, which can use fish, 3 lakes, iron and sugar. The diamonds are where I'll have to fort to get a WB over - if I get his city, it's obviously easier.
Settling SW bumps me right into C-H, which is a little scary, but with cho-konu, should be ok.
SE is b4ndit, who doesn't seen to be an issue. Note that city pretty near, which will be pretty worthless - a town and a bunch of coast.
This obviously bumps up against TT. I'll need some navy for this.

Eastway accepted the deal for kotirion, which I renamed to Breakage
Breakage is the episode where Jesse meets Jane - that story line comes to it's brutal conclusion in ABQ.
I whipped in a temple and will put a missionary there next turn, to get a border pop as quickly as i can.
Another missionary goes to Dale, which I renamed Mandala, which is where Walter meets Gus Fring.
And I founded Grilled in the 1 hex island North of Say My Name.
Grilled is where Tuco gets killed.
yes, lots of bad things happen in Breaking Bad, though Tuco was a bad, bad man.
I have 3 workers building a fort so I can pop a boat through to settle a city in the 1 hex ialand to the SW.
eastway had asked for ivory for nothing (since he lost his) I can't afford to send it to him right now (need the happy), but will sell it later. He made peace with TT, as well.
I get my priest for my shrine next turn and will be able to switch to peace time civics in a few - rep, Bureau, caste (for scientists and some artists for border pops) - caste won't last forever, but the culture will help some.

oh - guess I can't easily switch in a couple of turns - I'll want to whip in a lib or something in Mandala, and it doesn't come out of anarchy for 4 turns. hm..

Not much happening this turn - I think I'm going to switch to rep and bureau - bureau being too good to pass up - and make the switch to caste in 5 turns, so I can whip in some infra in Mandala, including a pavilion as soon as I can. That is an advantage of china - pavillion has several uses for me this game.

failed to spread judaism in Breakage, so need more missionaries. Switched to rep and bureau - went to propose a deal where eastways can buy ivory, but he's running a deficit, so I can't.
Created the shrine, got 11 gpt, so three other cities have judaism - that paid for the switch to bureau, plus.
Say My Name is building moai, then a market as it grows.
Getting a settler out of Full Measure and Blood Money.
ABQ and Ozymandias are currently building missionaries (for Breakage and a new city in the sea with TT).
finishing off Aesthetics->Drama->Music for the artist, plus Pavillions in Mandala and Breakage. No reason to not take advantage of my UB in border disputes.

Nothing all that interesting happening - ready to settle one city, set up to settle the 1 hex island near TT in 3 turns (dump a cho-ko-nu there, go get the settler/missionary, dump them, build), have 1 more settler for the far south.
Will 1 turn drama for pavillions.
Offered C-H ivory for dyes (he has 2)
TT is showing LBs in Pyke.
