So basically if Lewwyn/ASM did the micro and math correctly, Team 2 wins. Team 2 should be able to mobilize enough warm bodies to stall 106 units attacking one city for 2 turns.
Even if Team 3 cuts off tiles on the last couple of turns Team 2 can starve on artists and make up for it.

Hmm.
So is it 2 turns or 3 turns that they need to successfully defend for??
Because I thought that Team 2 mistakenly thought they needed to defend for 1 less turn than they actually need to?

Sullla's is one of the very best players at this game. We know it. He knows it. It would be strange if he wasn't confident/arrogant. There's nothing wrong with someone being aware that they are very skilled at something, and acting appropriately.

Thoth's on his own team, doing his own thing, and inevitably his actions will have an effect on the other teams.
He's not required to help another team win. Nor is he required to assist another team in their attempt to stop a team from winning.
Also, @ team 2...
Lewwyn's skilled enough that he'll be able to figure out what strategy is best for this situation, whether that's attacking out or turtling up or whatever. If it's possible for his team to beat T3's invasion long enough to win, Lewwyn will make the right call. He's not going to throw it all away on some impulse and make a bad play.

I agree. Lewwyn's posts have been showing a sharp uptick of technical analysis lately... he'll come through.

You'll get him next time, davy

For more than one reason - its also yet another round of Team1 builds that have nothing to do with stopping Team 2 !

But if Team 2 has miscalculated that they will win at the start of their turn, rather than the end, is there a risk that Lewwyn will cheerfully attack out with some of his troops when he thinks that he's won, only to face an unexpected final counterattack?
In other news, Sulla is doing very well at the moment, nabbing the Great Scientist from under Team 3s noses and smashing Davey's navy. It's understandable, given how occupied Team 3 is, but I feel bad for Sulla, whose excellent play looks like it might be about to rewarded with a shock loss.

I would say that this is possible, but -I think- unlikely.

Based on the current timeline T3 will have their first attack on turn 190. Then T2 will go legendary on turn 191, and need to hold off one more assault to win. I think Lewwyn understands this, his phrasing of things is just imprecise.

I think it was more just aimed at Davy's representation of T4 in his thread picture, I don't think anyone (including T3) thinks that T4 is doing anything other than acting appropriately in its own best interests. Just a bit of good fun and I think Thoth wouldn't be offended by the characterization in context.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Tasunke Wrote:Is it really possible for team 3 to win at this point? My guess is not so much. Ironically enough, their chance might be a culture victory, if team 1 remains oblivious to the mechanics.
Keep researching to stay with team 1 on tech, probably as far as mech infantry and air power, while building temples and cathedrals for the culture push. A civ can accumulate the 75,000 culture for a victory quite a bit faster than the 200,000 beakers for a spaceship or 50,000 hammers needed for a conquest/domination win this late. If they're still targeting Cristo Redentor, the Eiffel Tower is also right there too.
