Constitution came in EOT. After switching to Merc/Rep, our research lowered Losing those foreign trade routes was a big deal since we lack island cities of our own.
Iron filler will be settled next turn:
Iron filler will give us an extra commerce in each of our cities since all our trade routes now are only 1 commerce. Now I'm thinking of switching into Free Market...
Started Bank in Barbados:
Found where M3's staging their troops:
Started researching Literature for National Epic, it's going to have to be Havana, between its large food surplus and its grassland still waiting to be farmed.
Time to start getting Grenadiers off the line in case M3 gets antsy with Rifles.

What specialists did you assign for the free Merc specialist? We probably came out breakeven overall if we assign scientists or merchants.
We have 1 base TR + 1 Currency TR. Let's say all TR's average to 4C as they are in your screenshots of Havana and Barbados (average is probably closer to 3.5). The TR's reduce to 1C for domestic losing 3C over 2 TR's, or -6C total. If we run scientists we get this as 6 beakers. If we run merchants we get this as 3b/3g.
Some of our TR's were probably only 3g, and now add back 1 commerce per domestic route from the island city and we're doing better.
On another note, do we have any Stables built? If so could you pop out a couple chariots with Sentry promotion? A sentry on the hill 3S1W of Havana can watch that tile. If we road all the border tiles with M3 then we'll have enough vision to watch the buildup and/or get 2T of warning on any invasion stack without leaving our borders. With OB we can pop a sentry in-and-out occasionally for greater vision.

I went back and reassigned in decreasing order of preference, Merchants, Scientists, Engineers. (Merchants because thanks to Oxford, it's more productive than a Scientist even in a University city). Breakeven remained 750 BPT, but losing about 20 gold instead of 3 gold.
We could settle a REALLY bad city north of Maracaibo (the one Q's occupying) just to get another set of trade routes.
I don't think we have any Stables built? How about a Spiritual trip to Theology after we complete Banks? (Can't remember if we've kicked off the one-man Golden Age yet... have we?)

I don't remember kicking off a GA. I don't even remember popping a great person yet except for the Academy scientists.
San Juan or Maracaibo may have got a stables when I took over for that period early in the year. I don't specifically remember building one so I doubt it, but that may have happened.
SPI to Theocracy is a good idea. We can build units to within 1-turn of completion in the non-bank cities (even several in the same city, e.g. chariot > Gren) and let them sit for up to 9 turns on other builds. Once all cities are synced up we swap to Tho and finish as many units as we can (at least 2-3 chariots). This is the beauty of SPI! Not just avoiding a couple turns of anarchy.

Just checked, we don't have any Stables.
In 5 turns, will revolt to Theocracy and get Grenadiers. If the Island city still makes us lose money from Mercantilism, I say we research Economics and swap to Free Market. (Granted, Mercantilism probably comes out slightly better than nothing if we have Libraries for Scientists in more cities. But the extra 3 commerce foreign trade route is probably worth more) And after another 5 turns, swap to Caste/Pacifism for a GP?

Which type of GP (what is the goal?). I'm assuming the GP is for a GA?
How long will it take to get National Epic constructed, or do we even have the tech yet? ... it may be better to wait if we'll have NE up in 10 turns.
Is economics worth it? Those 2000 beaker spent somewhere else will get us to another tech goal quicker.

We get Literature next turn. Scientist for the one-man GA to power research to...
Rifling to break the NAP with Q or Democracy for the Statue? (Disclaimer: haven't checked if Trolls have Democracy). If you're okay with breaking the NAP, I say we hit Rifling. If not, Democracy, there's no way we're winning against M3.

thestick, when you play this upcoming turn can you make an adjustment for me? I'm working on a plan and I think I can get out 2GP during our Caste/Pacifism swap in 5 turn. In order to do this I need you to max food in both Sale and Ile a Vache (the 2 northern peninsular cities. Keep the Crabs for Sale and swap off Hills/Plains at each city in favor of Coast.
Sale and Ile a Vache are the best locations to spawn GP because they'll just be giving up coast or hills for specialists. Don't worry about slowing down the courthouse or Barracks builds. Neither is particularly pressing ATM.
