Ozzy just accidentally replaced one very bad team with another. It's a slip of the tongue. Or, master diplomacy. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

German civ weren't bad, they just got the shitty end of the stick (that Jorge Valdano said resided at Anfield), plus they overly pissed us off by not ending their turns (tactically it would probably have been better if we went after WPC).

The borders would have been much more difficult trying to incorporate WPC IMO. Looking back, I'd take the long turns over the absolute, staggering ineptitude we got from our ally instead.

Attacking Germany would have been the right move either way I think. I think if they actually bothered to defend us in force and make us take a separate peace, we would probably be more alive and Germany would have taken care of the WPC problem for us.
