[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

Just realised I forgot to play. I'm in the pub now but could head back to the office to grab it if you're already pissed?

Heh - Mack had already declared and offered white peace, so I offered it back for 3 gpt...

Nuremburg is working plains hill forest over the farm to produce the missionary this turn, but I'm not sure the missionary is needed straight away, so it might be better to work the farm this turn then one of the silks next turn? Or not. I left it because I'm sure you have a plan.

loving this thread lately. great brainstorming, and optimism as you work thru plans. from the lurker gallery of course I support the plans with risk 'extremely high' neenerneener

Totally wasted in a medical student party. As you probably expected. Mack offering peace is a good sign. Let's make him pay for it. I hope you moved galley so that we can pillage his fish if needed. Immediate missionary in N is good.

Turn 135 - mini-report

Alive! mischief Thanks for your words Ceiliazul!

  • Mack did not want to pay for peace and offered white peace back
  • In the end I was nice and did not pillage his fish and just took the peace. Hopefully he appreciates it a bit.
  • We swapped into Vassalage (and HR). In the end it only saved us 7gpt so it's not really amazing (saved unit costs reduced the "handicap savings").
  • Note the new whipped library in Eridu. Mack has around ~5 more culture on the corn tile and now makes 3 culture per turn. Let's chop quickly our own library so that we make 4.. Probably we won't be able to control that tile, because Eridu is just so much better city, but we might as well push a little bit
  • Bacchus accepted 5 gpt demand for open borders:

nod

We make 25 gpt just for selling open borders crazyeye (5 gpt for selling dyes to TBSJ)

As a side note, we are currently chatting with OH about our tech path, national wonders, usage of Great Persons during our GA, timing of our GA, remaining micro decisions, Harry noticed that suttree has now walls in his border cities, etc. smoke

Turn 135

We've decided we want the Heroic Epic in Jamestown (at least until next time we change our mind) - this is a great city now, with almost all it's tiles improved. I'm a bit worried that it's too hybrid with those cottages - should we farm and workshop the remaining ones? We have two forests still to chop into the epic. When its not celebrating the maintenance is about 5gpt so a courthouse next might be good.

We think Omdurman will be our strongest food producer (after Agincourt) and so will make a good National Epic city. It'll get Taoism next turn and then we'll chop (and whip?) the lighthouse and a forge. A courthouse would be handy too. Our great person from Cannae is due somewhere between 9 and 12 turns, depending on how many merchants we work. Having him born just after we next war-peace Mack would be good, then we can switch to caste/pacifism with only Suttree to worry about. If we take Aesthetics-Literature then we can build the National Epic before then with a bunch of chops.

I shuffled tiles at Hastings-Jamestown-Light Brigade again to get more hammers into the Monastery again and reduce the overflow on the forge (so we only lose one hammer not two).

And here you can see the new walls for Madrid and Barcelona. Our stack of axes is making it's way east to be ready for action at Hastings or Koniggratz if needed.

Demos and power - Suttree isn't increasing his power - perhaps he's realised the futility of it all? And although our crop yeild is some way off the leader (I'd guss that's Mackoti) we're still fourth...

I'll let Fintourist end turn after he fixes all my tile-tinkering :P - I changed tech so we save money on Aesthetics instead of Construction too, as I'm less and less convinced we're going all-military straight away. Civil Service would be a good alternative though.

Yeah, it's a bit hybrid, but we have needed those cottages (I'm a bit surprised that we have been able to keep up in GNP as good as we have and I think there are only 2/3 civs that are really ahead us in tech).. Anyways, I think we will give those western cottages to Hastings and at size 12 Jamestown can work:
- 2 food resources
- horses
- 5 mines
- 2 workshops
- 2 cottages
That brings the city to 25 base hammers (with guilds, no caste, no other bonuses), which is ok. Or at our PB13 standards great.. mischief If we want we can also maybe workshop over one or both of those cottages.

Well, to be honest, Omdurman is not too awesome as a NE city, but still the best of our bad options.. crazyeye Btw, I don't think forge is such a good idea. I think we want to overflow immediately into NE and if we have spare hammers let's build a library. Library has an immediate benefit if we produce a GS in Omdurman and it opens up 2 specialist slots when we are not in caste.

:P There is a small risk that WilliamLP cancels his marble trade, which might impact our tech choice so I do some calculations reg where we want to commit 50 beakers this turn (overflow+16 generated). I'll check what you have done and end the turn! lol

thumbsup for the river valley tile micro lol

I did two things and ended turn:
- I put Cannae back to 2 scientist specialists and 1 merchant. Normally merchant is indeed better in Cannae, but this turn with 0 % research the case is a bit different. This turn we are also running 2 scientists in Agincourt, which means that we want to also run 2 scientists in Cannae it gets us to 4*3*1.25 = even 15 beakers. Yeah, it's a small thing, but just wanted to type down my reasoning.
- I also moved the bows from Peterloo into a more central position, because we will have 10 turns safe borders in west and there is always a change that we need those against suttree. We should be able to bring them back in time to gather some fortify bonus if we are not worried about suttree.

Sounds good to me.
