Just curious - why was locking up long-term peace with WK and calling LP on his farmer's gambit not an option? He was your northern neighbor after all.

Sure looking at it now that would have been way better. WK was never gonna be a top contender, but that is something I wasn't able to see when we were negotiaing long time ago with LP. I also felt that we needed more land and it felt natural to try to get it from the player that was unlikely to become our friend.

This definately taught me a lesson. Going for a full kill on T110 was a bad idea. At minimum we should have stopped after capturing the south and then concentrate on other things.

Probably right here is when we should have attacked LP... Maybe you could have traded WK a city for peace.

At that point I was barely ahead in score (Plako overtook me again for at least another few dozen turns), behind in beakers, and you both had active NAP's with me. Attacking not only would have been incredibly seedy and possibly unsuccessful, but it would have made no sense at the time. No one, including me, knew what would happen in the future at that point. At that particular time in the game, to all intents and purposes Plako was the clear runaway, with a tonne of land and a tonne more about to be claimed from his weak neighbour. If you recall this was about the time there were worldwide discussions about how to slow him down. Breaking your NAP's to attack me and try to secure Plako victory right then and there would have been ridiculous and nonsensical.

yeah, I know. I was definitely more worried about plako than you at that point. It's just fun to speculate on how things could have gone differently.
