Thanks for the update =)

With regard to the GM:
  1. What are your reasons for cashing it at Krill's capital?
  2. It's not clear from your deal with Krill who has to provide the GM for Sid's.
    Is it you?
Are you confident in being able to get another, considering your Nat Epic site will be running scientists?

Its the highest pop city within reach, and it has a Harbor. If I were patient I could put him on a Caravel and go for one of Dreylin's rather large cities, but that would take a heck of a long time and I am kind of lazy rolleye.

I will be providing the Great Merchant, however I won't be doing it for free. This has not been negotiated yet, we have a nebulous agreement to "share" Sid's. I could take that to mean I give him some income from the corporation but don't spread it to him, or I could take it to mean I give him an executive but don't share the income. At some point as we get closer we will have to work out the details.

My tech path is Banking -> Economics, and I am a lock for the Great Merchant. Krill will likely argue that we are "splitting" the Great Merchant for this reason to get Sid's, but I will have to disagree with him nono. Its worth noting I get a discount on Banking since I have Guilds and Krill doesn't. In fact, its worth noting I have a tech lead...I'm the only one that knows every tech in the game, and its precisely because I've been working with everyone. For example, Krill lacks Philosophy, Guilds and I believe Music. The other three will continue to trade with me in an effort to keep up with Krill, so I will probably always have all techs known, at least until Krill starts the killing.

No cry. That was the first think I checked, but unfortunately no one blew the hammers on it. I might have in Washington if I had Marble and hadn't been locked in war.

I wonder if you could negotiate with a Marble-endowed fellow to build it for a cut of the profits? Might not be too worthwhile though since it'll expire soon.

Tell you what...in honor of a valiant foe I'll leave the name alone.

So Krill sent me an IM asking me not to trade Steel to Dreylin (pointing out that he had refrained from sending Metal Casting to Yaz). I let him know that unfortunately I already had a deal in place. He was running to work but we plan on chatting more tomorrow. I don't think he will break his game long NAP with me since technically I have not violated any deals with him, but its better to be safe than sorry. I am going to ask Ruff if I can borrow some of his army and probably stick a sentry Knight on that hill so I get at least some warning. I'll also be building Drydocks in anticipation of Astronomy coming in.

Not much else going on really, just pure builder turns. The Hanging Gardens came in for a ton of pop. I am also 3 turns from starting Oxford and I think 4 from getting my next great person (shot number 2 at a GE). My Ironworks/Maoi city has Granary/Forge/Judaism and is now working Iron/Copper/Horse/Cow. I think it is better to go Lighthouse -> Maoi -> Ironworks given I don't have access to Coal. My HE city is kind of weak, it can work 15H worth of tiles (pre Sid's).

Happened faster than I thought:

Quote:Darrell: still there?
de: I'll be leaving on the hour
Darrell: okay I got some time now
de: I don't really have anything to say
Darrell: Is it an ominous silence or a resigned silence?
de: What the hell can I do?
Darrell: At a minimum you could get pissed off and yell at me
de: Why would I do that?
Darrell: I dunno, to make me feel bad?
de: What, would that make you not trade Steel to Dreylin?
Darrell: No, but it might give you some satisfaction I guess.
de: return to start

Lots of activity on the lurker thread and Krill's thread, and he's uncharacteristically had the save for two days [Image: smilie_think.gif].
