[SPOILERS] MNG as Hattie of France

Gaspar Wrote:Nice to see all the Werewolf practice being put to use. smile

I suppose so smile

This is a bit easier, though. Here I'm just telling half-truths and appealing to the ego to try and get more information. Then I try and use that to get an advantage elsewhere. Totally different creature than saying that I didn't kill your neighbor last night while trying to hide fangs and claws. lol

Adding two pics from the end of turn. I just realized also that this was T50, so I guess there is no massive T50 update from me. Anything else you'd like to see let me know and I'll take more pictures.
First we have the southern half of the empire. Here you can see why I decided to keep the Barb city. Pigs plus sheep plus 4 hills, it just was too good to pass up. Plus I can still add another city 3 tiles south to take advantage of the fish down there. That one won't be anything but a fishing village, but the barb city will be strong enough to justify a fishing village. You can also see that I've started my worker building. There's now an axe in each of my cities, so I feel comfortable with soldier count. There are 5 workers due in about 10 turns time, which will take me up to 9 workers for what will be 9 cities before long.

And a shot to show how I'd like to expand. Those two cities are my next two, I think. Sorry to Commodore, who I'd really like to befriend for this game, but that "pink dot" should allow me to get up to 15 or so cities easily. And it also will give me another happy resource. Those cities will also bring me up to 4 pre-calendar happy resources. That along with MP happiness will allow me to enter into a period of vertical growth in about 15 turns.

I got this reply from Commodore about my information from the RL7 chat:

Quote:Hey MNG,

Thanks for that, that's huge. I just bumped into an RL7 myself, so I'll try investigating further. The trouble with Ind is that it's a threat for wonders no matter what resources are available. It's awesome to know that, thanks again.

On another note, it's a bit farther in the future, but about what time frame are you expecting to settle/conquer the stone site? I'd be delighted to make a missionary/ 10t stone trade, as in the next fifteen-twenty turns I'll be settling my Moai site. If there are any stone wonders you'd like to get non-competes on, I'd be happy to negotiate for that if you'd prefer.

Cheers,
-Commodore

I should be done with the HG (starting next turn at Paris) in 15 turns. That's late, I know, but I had to sacrifice a quick speed on it for my attempt at GL. Now I just hope that I land one or both of them, and don't lose both because of that.

Anyway, I figure I'll tell him I'm game for that. There aren't any more stone wonders I have in mind for quite a while (maybe Notre Dame?). And I should be ready to take it back 10 turns later for my own Maoi site. The thing is, I will be saving them something like 80 hammers, and he will be giving us the benefit of 26 hammers from missionary - which he will then collect gold from. I think I'll ask for 2 missionaries instead. He still comes out far ahead both in terms of hammers and gold, but I'd be okay with that in the name of "goodwill". Now to make this sound casual and friendly...

One more turn down, and still TGL has not fallen elsewhere. Can I whip it with 2 pop from 113 hammers/134 needed?

Tested it in WB. No, no I can't frown

So next turn I'll put more hammers into TGL, and then on the following turn I will whip it to completion. That means two more times around the turn order to wait until I complete it and to go crazy! So I really hope we get in another afternoon and an evening turn, so I can get on with my life one way or the other after the evening turn...

The second afternoon save played and sent. No big domestic news. In foreign news....

The GLH has not yet been built. That means one more turn, and I'll whip it for myself. Please let the other teams not take it on the very next turn! ...

... And a great prophet was born, presumably to RL7, the builders of Stonehenge.

Now I just count down until the next turn comes around...

Hmmm... Should I mess around with him?

Yuri Wrote:Hi MNG,

I've been checking the graphs, and noticed that your power rating has
been steadily growing lately. I appreciate that you don't want to sign
a formal NAP, but could you please give us reassurances that you're
just strengthening defence and aren't planning military actions
towards us in the near future? I believe we enjoyed good relations so
far, and very much hope to continue to do so in the future, but I'm
slightly paranoid. I don't think a military operation or a build-up of
border forces would help either of us, so it would be nice to have a
confirmation that there are no such plans

I sincerely hope this message doesn't put a strain on our relations,
but I feel it's necessary to ask this question

All the best

I didn't mess around with Yuri. I'm surprised that I haven't heard back from Commodore, though. I basically countered his proposal with stone duration T65-T75 for two missionaries of his choice 1 ASAP and the other during the stone deal. I really do think that's pretty balanced, considering that he will be getting the benefit of Maoi before me and the benefit of gold from shrines. I suppose if he doesn't accept, I could go the opposite direction and give Yuri the shrine gold. But as I think I've said here before, I'd rather build relations with Commodore.

In other news, the turn came around again. Yep, that's 4 turns today and 7 turns over the weekend. Not bad!

So, my math on the Great Lighthouse was wrong, and I could not whip it in this fourth turn. That's the bad news. The good news is that as of this turn, I still haven't been beaten to it. And now I have just one more turn to naturally build it by hand. So ... if no one gets it this time around, it will be mine, all mine. I just hope that if I do get it I don't have to go through the "what will you pay me for open borders" that we've seen in other games here.

Not much else to say on the diplomatic front. Even if there was, it's all about the GL right now, and nothing else has really mattered much. I need more workers, but I have 2 about to complete and 2 more on the way after that.

On the international scene, other civs continue to expand. RL7 and GES both joined me in the 6 city club this turn. I can't sit still for one turn, or else other teams will catch up in city count. So, time to work on a settler or three. And... Commodore is still at just 3 cities. I'm really getting confused about his empire. What could he be doing down there stuck at so few cities? He's mentioned the Great Library, but with him having marble, that shouldn't be that big of a deal. I guess I'll have to go think of a diplomatic way to ask him.

So far good news all around. Hope both Lighthouse & Gardens get built in France smile.

And the Barb-city is a real nice addition.
