I can definately see that these settings favor players like Speaker having lot of team game experience, but then again I'm sure that best players here could adapt to these setting and be competitive. Kyan why not give it a shot? I would definately like to see, if you can beat Speaker and Sullla using their settings? If not what would make it for you? Ancient start?

On a level playing field, i'm happy to play against Speaker and co. On a field tilted slightly in his favour, i'm happy to play against Speaker and co. Put it back on ancient start and i'd consider it.

For the record, my proposed team was:

1) Me and Krill
2) Novice and Spaceman
3) Darrel and Rego and/or T-Hawk

This current game will, in my opinion, be farcical. You have two extremely experienced guys versus a lot of others, some of whom are new to team play, who are new to medieval start and in some cases, new to multiplayer. The skill disparity in the sign ups is rather large. I'll stop bitching in your thread now though, as it's rather unfair. Feel free to quote me later

Edit: I think we need some more experienced team leads who have done multiplayer and have some XP with medieval starts perhaps.

Kyan, you are operating with a set of misconceptions about me and how MP works, that makes it very difficult to have a conversation with you. If you think I cherry picked some settings that I play exclusively, you are mistaken. Later era starts have been available for play since the original Civ4. There is nothing that says they can't be used, or should only be used in SP, or in live MP, or in PBEM, or PB, or whatever. They don't modify the game, as it develops. They simply allow for a faster-paced start to the game, and open up some interesting moves earlier in the game.

We want to do something different this game. Every other game has already been Ancient start, with solo players and rampant diplomacy. If you don't want to play....don't play. But this game will be interesting to follow for lurkers, it will be fun for players, especially those who haven't played team games or later starts, as they figure it out as the game goes along.

Then correct my misconceptions mate. You can't say it's hard to have a conversation if you haven't tried yet? I think a team based game is a great idea

If anything, i think you should take my words as a compliment. You're an extremely good player. As such, with the rules being so different to what most guys are used to, i think you'll crush them and with diplo being off- there's nothing they can do about it.

I'd like to sign up to be a ded lurker for the game. Not sure about being a team member; i have virtually no MP experience and no medeival start experience. And like someone said earlier, it's more fun if the teams are balanced.

For the record, my proposed team was:

Considering team #1 and team #2 above have the two best players on this site IMO, and another team would have Speaker/Sullla, unless you are really going to tightly limit sign-ups to highly qualified players, this game is likely to be a joke.

You would need other teams that have rosters like Seven/Luddite/Lewwyn and LP/plako/sunrise to make the game even remotely balanced.

If we've learned anything from all these games so far, I would think that having a set of players who are balanced skill wise would be at the top of the list.
