It's true, and the viewers at home do come first, so there is that going for us. It is although fitting for a young civ to lie mangled by the bad starting techs... Our noble little workboat is off to find greener pastures. This year, it fails. Seafood! That somehow escaped my notice! That barely matters at all! And finally, demos, we're awesome at mining things, at least. A few more turns 'till we get a non-capital city, by definition, a better city.

Got it. Played. Found Dyes.
Not much else going on right now, we need to figure out if this WB will be mainly circling for city sites, or heading out for the second most important wonder of the game, Magellan's Expedition.

I decided to keep the WB after Magellan's.
Zandalar popped 3rd ring this turn, revealing little that we didn't already see. The chops completed, so Settler is due in 2T. If it kills me, I'm going to run through a few scenarios for the next 20T or so. We're flying a little too seat of our pants right now and its time to stop whining about the map and our poor decisions and get down to business.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I meant to swap to furs this turn, still 2-turn settler due, but would have dropped Agriculture by a turn (with no overflow, sure, but that's how we roll). Now to avoid wasting turns we need to probably have Peon mine while Peon 2 pastures, waiting for the chance to farm a FP. Ah well, cest la vive.

I suppose this is why teams usually have some sort of a spreadsheet to work off of. :P Like I said, I'll bang through several different scenarios tomorrow morning and see what we can see. Playing by feel is even less successful when we each have different feels for the game. Going to need to start getting our act together. Fortunately, its early, and the starting island is bleak enough that nobody's been able to get off to a flyer. That's going to change though when people start getting boats off and such, so we'll need to execute better from here on out. Sorry again for missing that, usually I poke around tile combinations and for some reason I just sent this one off.

It's all fine, actually. I'm assuming we'd like to slip in a work boat to jog around the cape towards Zul'Drak as we make the second settler. The workboat would take five turns again, but if we worked a fp and the cows growth is 4-turns. However, if we can finagle four hammers of overflow, it's 4-turn build and a 4-turn growth, so it's going to be okay either way. Need to figure out which farm to make first, but for now, micro fears absolved.
We're not crippled at all here! We'll recover soon enough from this start, trolls regenerate after all.

If you're going for Magellan's, I'd really like to see a second workboat heading SE to meet the first one (which should tend NW in case of toroid).

The eastern city will have cows to work as soon as its founded, which means it'll be able to do the five turn grow/work boat thing too, and launch a ship going the other way. I'm not 100% sure they'll manage circumnavigation, but it'll help at least.
