Google around for setting up a boot drive. There are a few options. Here are the major ones:
* Move your Users and Program File folders off to another drive. You can Google how to change the "library" location for Windows 7 pretty easily. Moving Program Files requires some weird hacking when I did it (Windows doesn't "support" doing this hack).
* Do registry edits to make the default locations for program files in your new drive. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/6643-6...mal#t39911
* Also you can make "symbolic" links to the new folders so when stupid silly hardcoded programs try to install to your C: drive they get linked to you new folders.
Here's a pretty comprehensive guide

Not sure what to do with old PC. Might just cannibalize it for parts - if I do that, my new PC will end up with 3 x 1TB drives. Still thinking about how to utilize that much space.

He didn't say why but I am thinking that his partitioning means he doesn't run into much file fragmentation.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

With modern file systems (ie not FAT) you don't need to worry much about file fragmentation. Lots of people has lots of bad habits born of 98 and early XP experiences, that just hurt them nowadays.
(I'm just glad I mostly used Mac OS then, and never really got into those bad habits. Though I admit I had to unlearn a bunch of classic Mac OS stuff with the switch to OS X.)

Unix file systems don't usually require defragmentation. NTFS on the other hand does though the fragmentation problem isn't too large.

FF was running but addons were still disabled. D/l and installed Chrome and it wouldn't even connect to gmail ( The site's security certificate is signed using a weak signature algorithm).
D/l and running SUPERAntiSpyware and it reports that I have some issues (known threat sources, adware cookies, securitycenteroptions disabled and a trojan.

Sounds like the plugin container is exploding, you might want to disable hardware acceleration for FF and Adobe Flash.

Oh yeah. Anything on your SSD is like 10x faster load times. My BIOS takes longer than Windows boots. Another friend had one large enough he installed several games on it, and was like "hah, loading times? WHAT LOADING TIMES?"
No idea why the partition. Another thing to note is slowly your OS will grow due to patches and such. I only have the OS on my SSD, and depending on the patch I've seen it use up to 35GB but now it's down to 20.8GB. Blame random Microsoft silliness.

Time to test out how good my generational backup approach really is by going back to a system backup that wasn't infected.

My Suite of Awesome:
Avast! Anti-Virus
Spybot
Malwarebytes
I've been told the Microsoft anti-virus is actually pretty top-notch. I personally haven't used it though.
