So, when I inherited the save, I saw these new borders:
Which meant that we had not a single available coastal spot to settle a city with our new settler!
Anyhow, proceeded to do a few trades over my turnset, including giving in to a demand with Hamurabai in order to get him happy enough to open borders with us (definitely worth the trade routes for us):
All of that gold allowed us to power through Aesthetics and almost all of Lit. I think we should try for the Great Library.
Also, in other news, we finished the mids without even having to chop all three forests (chopping the third would have save 5t, but I decided to take the risk and leave that city at least something decent to work with).
I have yet to revolt. Was hoping we might be able to trade for CoL soon and be able to double revolt, but no luck on that front yet. All the AIs aren't willing to trade any techs at the moment, and none have enough gold to be worth trading for in my opinion.
I'd probably recommend going for CoL next, then either CS or paper.
There looks like an opening for the settler beyond Babylon lands, if the map in that area is current. So if we can let's stick a city there, and be sure to capture the barb city further west. Then prepare to wipe hammurabi off our west coast.
I agree about getting the Glib. Would be nice with the NE there too
Why wait for revolt till we get CoL? Don't we need slavery still?
lol, we're spiritual, why worry about the double revolt? :P
well I sure hope hammurabi doesnt build the AP.. I was thinking of giving theology to sitting and hoping he builds AP. not as big of a deal as TGL, though, I guess.
Agree with Molach, I'll cram the settler in the tight spot and use it to dump off armies and prepare to invade babylon.

Yeah, there is a spot, but a barb city is right next to it and we have no unit with the settle. The galley is already headed back to the mainland to pick up a unit to protect our city.

More that I was hoping/expecting to get it within 5t and despite being spiritual we still would have to wait that 5t.
ok, I guess I'll get around to this tomorrow, sorry
in the meantime, just to confirm:
the settler goes here as soon as we have military to back it up? (lol at our settler currently being used to scout)
also, this freaks me out a bit:
sippar is the very recently founddd babylonian city. I passed a turn to see if it would stick around.. how is a size one recently founded city with no infastructure the #5 city in the world? our pyramids city at least should be better, and probably many ai cities as well. ???

so I bet you thought I forgot about this game? Sorry for taking so long :/
I whipped the lighthouse here, since najran can regrow to size 2 so quickly. then I had the brilliant idea to keep the whipped lighthouse in queue to overflow into TGL, which I assume the plan was to build here from the prechops. we'll do the same thing with the madrassa, then overflow both into TGL. maybe we can even save a chop?
i went ahead and revolted into CS. code of laws was 5 turns away anyway - and honestly I don't see the point in revolting to caste. the only cities that can hire specialists already have slots open anyway!
next turn I started hiring a couple of priests here. I was hoping for the 10% shot at a great prophet for a shrine, but got the merchant anyway.
we got a random forest growth in damascus, which makes it a slightly less crappy city
traded code of laws and 2 cheap religious textx to augustus for metal casting. hammurabi will trade calender, but we have nothing he wants
I merged the great merchant into the city. 1f, 6gold, 3 beakers, not bad . I recommend doing this with all non-priest, non-engineer specialists - thats why we got the pyramids .
crappy event. hopefully this doesnt make us lose our open borders before we're ready for war.
got 2 axes over here on my last turn to defend new city. maybe too late to capture the barb city maybe not though - thats your task molach .

I got it. Playing tomorrow, or thursday at latest.
No reason not to found the off-continent-city near barbs, apart from lack of defense? Would suck if babylon settled to invalidate the spot. Gonna march both axes off to check on the Barb city and trust my charming personality to be enough to keep AIs friendly.
I guess next tech is CS, so we can chain-irrigate, eh?
i've partially completed CS.. was thinking for beuracracy, smart alec :P Also for the front row seat for liberalism. That was really the only reason for caste, tbh.
CS will make good trade bait too if the dumb ais ever trade with us again .
