Especially not over Blackcollar/Cobra (I get the two mixed up, but they're quite similar in many ways). I mean, they were good, but they aren't up to the quality of some of his later stuff. Well, one trouble is that Krill hasn't increased the allowed character limit for city names, and I loathe smushing spaces out of names. "Heir to Empire" works, but needs to be an actually good city, rather than early cottage helper crap drones. Which is what Cobra will be, and Blackcollar will be a ghetto Phi GP farm early on most likely. Triplet, though...that's a good one, and a great city. One thing that makes my mapmaker sense tingle, though...whatever the original script was, it has been touched, molested, tapped, prodded, and primped. No way there is a dead zone without resources there. So I'm willing to bet you a nickel there is copper or iron under that signpost.
Triplet was so awesome, man...
But let's not bury the lede. What have we to the south? I opted to keep scouting far, and will you guess what I found? Those blush borders aren't Holy Roman, nossir...we've got something different lurking down there!
Paaaaacked map.

Grimace, yah fool! You have a slow slow leader and the Celts of all terrible things. Why compound the error by going religion-first? Only idiots do that...
Irony Alert!

I know its a very early call. But Im gonna have to vote scum on Ceil, or cylon. Someone has to lynch or airlock before he drags you down.
All this, focus on filler cities and grow them tall; dont pressure the settler spamming neighbour, let him eat first and see if he left any crumbs. He is waiting for you to burn.
No, I say push the settling neighbour and force him to bulk up on mil. Push the southern wimp and make him cry. Settle all the spots, pinkeye them, and laugh at their misery. Or something. But grab that gold.

We're getting the gold, no worries Git. And make no mistake, horse archers will make them all pay soon enough...
An interesting little aside, while we consider land grabs. The stone island is big enough to spawn lions; I'd wager a not inconsiderable pretty penny that this is actually another continent; we probably have a fifth near neighbor out west. Really want this city, folks.
Plant on the stone or beside the stone?

The grass really is notably greener on this other side. But I'd rather have a not-completely-surrounded position, thanks.
We want this land for eatin'.

Dang, sw of gems is commerce monster or gp farm par excellence. You really need to scout your immediate north before locking in city two. May be just as crowded there with spots like this that you'll miss out on.

Worker is just about to pop out; warrior next is pretty obvious as corn gets farmed but timing for the second worker then settler will be interesting.

I actually realize belatedly that our open really ought to have been quecha-quecha-quecha.

I suppose it still could be... but you dont need to set up another commo-duel pitboss mini game here.
You have a favorable field, and favorable traits for a mid game advantage. Take the road less traveled and out build these blokes.

Definitely not, because, as you said, it's either way early or duel time. We're going to be going with an emphasis on Snowball, Snowball, and Snowball, don't worry. And then bulb Math and Alphabet...
...but if anyone wants to take a crack at it, here's the capital for reminder. This was last turn; this turn worker began farming (5t) and we started a quecha.
Think we want one 5-hammer turn into the second worker, obviously.
