Turn 113, The One With More Border Clashes!!

Nuttin in the interturn.




I lost a chariot, then killed the axe and captured 2 workers. I also captured another, uncovered worker, which I deleted - Ichabod will kill the chariot with an axe, I'm sure. Unless he doesn't because he's worried that I'm faking him out




This entire battle was meant to be a skirmish to punish ichabod for being careless by not covering those units with a spear, since the only thing that could hit them was a chariot. But maybe it can punish him more. If Hermes doens't have a unit in it next turn, I'll definitely kill it, which maybe can distract him enough that he completely misses the threat to the north. I doubt that happens, but it will be interesting to see.




Less GG progress than I hoped - the chariot killing the first axe would have been good.




Ichabod has slightly higher power than me, so I'm switching some builds to be defensive. One worry is that he has access to triremes, which could be a problem. Also, I'm making him an enemy, which is probably a problem. I'm debating offering him a new peace treaty every 10 turns for awhile, after this clash is over.

Turn 114, The One Wiith Ichabod Making a Sneaky Move!!

When I logged in, I Gawdzak was offering me gems and marble for silver. I presume he has a 2nd supply of gems. I (obviously) did not accept, since I have marble but it's just not hooked up. Also, giving a lux to the guy in the lead is wacky. Maybe I should have replied with an offer for silver and gpt. Maybe I will do that, I dunno. I really have no idea how to evaluate that, cause I don't know how big his cities are.

Ichabod offered peace - I, of course, did not accept because I wanted to raze his city. I was unable to do that, because it is defended by a worker. No, seriously. A worker stops you from taking a city... as long as the unit has attacked another unit, and he had an axe in the way. I could have sacrificed the chariot to kill the axe and been ok with it, but screw it - he left my chariot on the FP alone, I could leave his axe alone - besides, my chariot was promoted.

Well played, Ichabod. Still don't understand why you covered your workers with an axe instead of something that could defend against chariots, though.

So, I withdrew. So far, I've killed an axe and lost a chariot, and he's lost 3 workers, 2 of which are mine. That's not a bad payoff. The big one is, hopefully, next turn.

Turn 115, The One With AT Being Disappointed

I noticed no whips from Ichabod, so he clearly didn't whip another archer into his city. So, my attack was on!!

My first sword died, but did quite a bit of damage, giving my second (CR1) sword an 82% chance of victory. Confident, I landed... and died without landing a single hit RNG, you suck.

Ah well - it was just an opportunistic attack anyway.

I offered peace to Ichabod, which I presume he'll accept.

So, assuming it ends here...

I lose a chariot and 2 swords, for 110 hammers. he loses 1 axe and 3 workers, for 215 hammers, so a clear win for AT here. Not as much as I would have hoped, though....

Barb city still hasn't grown - another barb is coming over from the nearby city, so I'll kill barbs next turn. Hopefully, the damn thing will grow soon so I can take it. Nice site - wheat and sheep.

Combat 1 on swords is better against archers, but I guess it couldnt make sense since sword didnt do any damage at all. You stole the workers, so they have covered all the hammers you have invested in.

really? I should have looked at that. It might have made some difference - obviously, we can't see the rolls, but if they were close, maybe slightly better odds would have moved 1 or two and then I would have had a run...

No biggie - like I said, it was opportunistic, anyway. It's not like Ichabod could be more mad at me and now I have 10 turns of peace to build improvements on the border.

First courts are coming on line. I switched to slavery and HR, so now have more happy cap every where. Just in time - expenses are at 150.

Barb city still hasn't grown and brick has shown up with 2 workers and an axe, so I presume he wants that city, too. Hopefully, it grows next turn and I can take it. I have an archer there already.

Turn 117, In Which AT May Lose His Barb City

More pics tonight - couldn't get them in today.

The southern barb city is size 1, and Bricks' axe is getting closer. Hopefully, it grows this turn or next so I can get it before BRick kills it.

More courthouses got created - Ichabod's power is growing, so I think I'm going to have to start building more military. Maybe pick up alpha for a spy sometime, too. I dunno if he has construction or not, but cats would make holding my fur problematic.

Turn 118, In Which AT Finally Meets Yuris

The barb city is size 1 still, so I just moved my axe/archer nearer the other one down here.

But first, I saw a HA!!




I have now met everyone!! Yuris does not have more than 1 luxury - in fact, I'm about to have the most, as no one has wine hooked up (though I think Jowy is going to have)

(I later logged in after BRick moved and he did, in fact, kill the city. Now I kind of wish I had left a barb in there instead of killing them all. Well, there will be multiple ones at the other city and I can get a chariot there to help out.)

I got my next GP and, with a 70% chance of getting a merchant that would allow me to bulb CS, I get... a scientist. Well, can't complain about that. Not sure what I'm going to do - might turn a bunch of my hill mines to cottages in my cap and pop in an academy there once I build ToA, which is going there.

Why creative, even with the nerf to culture, is good:




Poor Jowy - he chopped a library into that city just to keep his borders. He's not going to be able to take my cow, cause he cannot possibly overwhelm my culture before I get my cheap barracks in their. Creative is awesome at pushing people around., and protective makes it so hard for them to react... I probably should pick up drama soon for theaters.




But i definitely need Feudalism pretty soon. Also, of course, more power. Ichabod is getting strong and is pissed at me for attacking him and, presumably, snaking that fur from him. He'd be REALLY mad had I managed to take that city, but eh.





Last turn of GA demos. got some good infra built and did some good civic switching and GP creation. Now, need to spread my religion and plot some more cities to plant in various people's faces.

No more GA I can get Feud in 3 turns at 100% science... of course, I cant' run 100% science. I'm running 0% for now, but I think I need to build wealth - my peace treaty with ichabod runs out in 6 turns and with his power spike, I want to have at least 1 LB visible to him before hand, so he can direct what I assume is a stack of HA elswhere.

Feud in 3 more turns. I have to run wealth in one city to ensure it, but it should allow me time to get some LB's in place so if Ichabod does attack me with HA, I should be able to withstand anything but a huge number.

The barb city will be interesting - it's size 2, but only has one warrior in it. yuris has 2 HA in range, so may take the city. Then, I have to decide what I'm going to do - I may declare war and take it. Or, I may let him have it - I don't really know. He also might let me keep it, I dunno.

I cancelled the 5 gpt to dreylin last turn - he didn't cancel the OB. He has a trireme near his island city, so that's a worry. Galley might be more worrisome - but if he holds off until I can get LB in place, my coastal cities should be safe - amphi swords shouldn't be able to beat pro LB with cultural defense.

I had noticed that Yuris did not take the barb city in the interturn. What I didn't notice was that Molach had!! He has an axe and a spear inside it.

I debated for some time whether or not to take it from him - a CRII axe should be able to kill the axe inside the city easily. I decided to not, because I don't really need to piss off Molach at this point - he's not attacking with keshiks, which I think is a mistake, but there's no point in poking him with LB, that's a different stories. And once I get janisaries, he's probably my first target, since ichabod will be too big by then. I expect ichabod and I to clash, but not for awhile. Unless ichabod attacks me, of course.

Speaking of ichabod, he plopped an xbow in his southern city. xbow's are wierd units - I generally use them as stack defenders, since they are expensive and not great taking cities (except cho-ko-nu, of course).
