From my point of view it looked like the consensus was pangaea with some island(s) per player. Which is basically pb40
pb49?

The size is good, I would prefer something more natural BnS massive continent
but am fine with something less natural. (March 25th, 2020, 17:53)giraflorens Wrote: Hello guys!! Mapmaking hasn't started yet and it's not a vets game. On the map, I just want some meaningful water. I got the impression that that wasn't there in pb40. If I'm wrong, it's all good
Anyone know of a free mapmaker?

PM'd Mardoc about mapmaking
In an effort to get the settings discussion towards closure, I also compiled the casted votes in a spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing Everybody can edit. An image of the current state is attached. If I got anyone's vote wrong, feel free to correct that. I didn't count GKC's vote, as he's just dedlurking and superdeath did vote. some stuff came up during the discussion, so not everybody voted on that. I think everybody should be free to readjust their vote's at this point one final time. Two players haven't voted yet at all. My takeaways:

Ok, I added my votes to the spreadsheet. I want as few changes as possible to the mod to get the game going as quickly as possible.
i think for the most part, the consensus was to get to agreeing on snake vs random, and finding a mapmaker for something pb40-pangaea like. Everything else can probably be tweaked for a future game, unless someone feels strongly about a certain change?

Why even discuss settings and vote in the first place? If you want to dictate settings, as the game sponsor you could have done just that, but if you open a vote then respect it.
I invested quite some time making sense of everything people had posted and making the spreadsheet from that. Just open the thing, and fill in your missing votes, Mr Cairo did that in less than 2 minutes after it was posted. The purposed stuff seem to be easy XML one-liners (save the spies maybe, don't know). if Charriu says it's getting complicated or he isn't available then we can agree to stay with staid quo,but I'm pretty sure what will delay things will be the map, not some balance changes in the mod. No, PB 40 was not consensus by any means, it was an idea some people brought up, with the idea thatit would get out faster. I have no idea why that would be, if we don't want to use the exact same map. people voted for BnS or pangea with islands (you can open the spreadsheet to see that, or look at the picture I posted if that's too much). PB 40 is the latter only by a stretch, and it's not at all the natural layout advertised in the opening past. Again, if a mapmaker says it will be a lot easier to make that, we can go for it. But if we can't agree on that, let's just let the mapmaker do what he prefers? Speaking of mapmaker, Mardoc has declined,,so who knows of someone else? |
