The hockey broadcasts in the U.S experimented with a blue highlight of the puck for people that don't follow hockey.  It was terrible, but...I need him to toggle the board colors when he is doing a hypothetical path vs. what actually happened in the game, because it was really confusing me . 

You've got to remember that as you get better and better, you will be able to calculate all these variations in your head without even moving the pieces on the actual board. In case you are having trouble with visualization you can google "blindfold chess" or check out sites such as

With enough practice supposedly it should be possible to play complete games without a board.

He was casually streaming a session on lichess the other day as well on his own twitch channel. I'm sure he could've made thousands by making a deal with the big bad chess.com, but instead he plays for free on the better interface. Good to see.

He's not my favourite player from a style point of view, but there's no doubt that he's a great ambassador for the game.

Thanks for pointing out Lichess - after checking it out I agree it is indeed the best web based chess service if you just want to play chess.
I really dislike the chess.com interface for blitz games, because IMHO it creates too much lag for playing quickly in time trouble.
The whole concept of Lichess is commendable,  especially that you get a real rating, which other servers (playchess.com) only offer for paying customers.

Yes, the lag on chess.com is unbearable. Especially for blitz time controls with no increment. Lichess is the best thing that's happened to chess over the past 2-3 years, I urge everyone to try it out. Open source done right.
