[SPOILERS] Team EggHeads: DMOC and TeddyKGB (Now Lurker-Friendly!)

Turn 126 - 275 AD

I decided to go ahead and play most of the next turn, since it was just before I was about to sleep for the night. I have not ended turn yet, just in case you want to check things out. Oh, and Rome didn't declare war.

There appear to be no updates in technology, though Yuufo for some reason is stockpiling gold (researching Civil Service?):

I put research on 70%, and we'll get Iron Working next turn. Then it's back to several turns of 0% research for Civil Service while we get the markets and courthouses set up in our empire. The settler just built went down, but it's no great loss if we decide to instead head him west to found the designated city spot south of Georgia Tech. Given our poor break-even research, it might be worth just holding the settler in reserve.

Hm ... so Arki finally founded another city:

I'm getting worried ... his core cities (minus the capital) are half the size of our core cities!

Here's the capital, which will hopefully never be below size 10 from this point forward in this game.

UCLA:

We may just plow over that cottage to get a farm there, but we might as well have it there. Next turn, the road finishes, and we can get 2 additional workers there to chop, then on turn 128 the chop finishes and we can start the plantation.

Here are the full city builds:

Micromanagement and Other Plans

City-by-city plan updated

1. CM: Grow to size 10 next turn, finish colloseum next turn, then finish up Hindu Temple. After that, just grow and build wealth.
2. MIT: Still on wealth
3. Stanford: Still on market, likely to whip for 2 population later, but this won't be for a while.
4. Berkeley: On turn 131 it generates our great person and it will go back to working normal tiles. Courthouse -> ??.
5. Cornell: We can whip the courthouse on turn 128, courthouse will have 80/120 hammers so 2 population with lots of overflow into a hindu temple. This will only bring the courthouse faster by 1 turn, though, so I'm unsure if we want to do this, but we'd be whipping away some 2f2c coast, not exactly stellar tiles anyway. Alternatively, can whip on turn 127 (next turn!).
6. Illinois: Keep growing on a barracks
7. Washington: Grow to size 11 (2 more turns) and re-evaluate, not sure if I want to whip the courthouse
8. Princeton: Keep building wealth. Nothing much to do here except work cottages and wait until it can get the corn from Michigan.
9. UT Austin: Grow to size 10 (2 more turns) and re-evaluate. I think we should whip on turn 128.
10. Georgia Tech: courthouse done next turn, switch to wealth probably.
11. Caltech: keep growing on a hindu missionary. Whip the missionary on turn 129. On turn 131 it will spread to Berkeley just in time for Berkeley to use the organized religion bonus with its extra population points freed from Great People production.
12. Wisconsin: Explained in an earlier post. Working a market, and then whip it on turn 128, overflow goes into a courthouse. I actually miscalculated the hammer amount (overestimated by 2) but we'll still get plenty of overflow.
13. Michigan: It can actually start whipping its courthouse for 2 population points next turn, but I suggest whipping it on when it reaches size 6 (at least) because we have lots of grassland that can be cottaged, and two workers are near the area.
14. UCLA: Will finish up granary, overflow I suggest into a Library. Then we can follow Library -> Lighthouse production.

Several whips planned, roughly 1-2 a turn for the next few turns I think. It'll hurt our population standing, but we really need these courthouses and other infrastructure builds, and better to get these done now so we can do nothing but grow on chain-irrigated farms from Civil Service.

As for the 15th city, if we settle it by the marble area, we can take both workers who are finishing up Stanford's cottage down to the deers and they can improve it, followed by connecting the marble. The 15th city can take the silver from illinois, which is fine as Illinois has no wealth or research multipliers.

Thank you for the report.

I logged in after you finish the turn. All I did is change CM build queue Colloseum<->Temple, which will allow us to net few more hammers.

SutOxy's GNP/MFG is huge after GA started, so its pretty much game over unless we do some diplo.
Still, I wouldnt accept NAP extension with Arki just yet. We might talk about it after t140.
Arki was willing to attack SutOxy on t150, so I suppose he will build some units soon. Still, he might be a softer target than India at that time.

Any plans for GS on t131?
I suppose, GLib will be complete before t131, so we cant use GE other than bulb Machinery?

1. I selected the colloseum over the temple because the overflow hammers get multiplied due to being creative. Did you take that into account?

2. Yeah, I'll send some stuff to Arki/BCal tonight. The real key to our success is going to be if we can get cat/bandit into this.

3. If it's a Great Engineer, I think we can bulb Machinery, which might actually be in our best interests. If it's a Great Scientist, we could start a Golden Age and use that GA to get Guilds, but I prefer to keep Golden Ages for the way SutOxy are using it, i.e. to have multiple cities working at least 5 specialists.

1. It doesnt matter in which order you use overflow. It will be base 30h still. Another way looking on this situation is change building cost according to multipliers and use base hammers in calculations.
Like we need 12h to finish Temple (not 15h) and 28h to finish Col (not 62h).

2. --

3. I agree on bulb Machinery.
So you suggest just stash GS till better time? In that case we could disband 2Sci for a few turns. It will allow city grow faster and get higher odds on GE.

I notice that Arki whip that city west from sheep to 2pop. I'm worried about his domestics.

I was thinking, what about ShwPaya?

This way we could avoid Theology and switch civics to Vassalage/Theo before 1st Cataph out.

SutOxy might build it before us, but we got failing gold at +125% rate in that case. SP isnt much priority for Sut now, as I see it.

Would you log in soon after turn roll? I'm interested in Iron location and some other small things.
I suppose we shouldnt wait till GG play every turn.

I can login in a few hours, just have some work to finish. Then I'll catch up on diplo, etc. and might even play most of the turn. I won't end it in case you want to change something. Will respond to your other points later ...

Yeah, no more playing after GG. smile

Logged in. Didn't move anything. Put slider at 0% before take demo ss.

We got 2 source of Iron, both not in a good locations.

Arki finished UoS in the city with AP.
Also, he finished monastery in border Sheep city. He can't got this tile anytime soon, tho.

3 cities expand borders this turn. UIllinois allow us to has visibility on important tile inside Rome's borders, so we dont have to scout it with chariot every turn.

Some other screenshots.

Actually Teddy, I'm going to be a bit pressed for time, as I've got a long drive tomorrow morning so I should sleep and be rested for that. wink Why don't you finish up the turn? (If you don't want to, I can do it tomorrow night, near the end of the turn timer.) I think it's pretty straightfoward. 0% research on Civil Service (can switch to Aesthetics if Sh.Paya is in the cards ... actually why not just ask them?) and city builds outlined in the previous post. I'm thinking of whipping the courthouse in Cornell now. And if we really are going to stash the scientist, then yeah, might as well grow Berkeley.

Workers also have a lot to do, especially near the dyes. There are 3 that can be on that tile this turn, and a fourth one can move to the roaded jungle hill south of UCLA and pre-chop, then move in for later.

Note: if you come up with some nifty worker/city build plan, please post it just so I don't screw it up. smile

To some points:

1. OK, cool then the hindu temple is the obvious completion due to the extra hammers we get. I'll have to read more on how overflow works.

3. What else would we use the Great Scientist for? I don't think he will bulb a nice tech for us (will need to double check).

4. Yeah, Arki really needs to strengthen himself, in fact I doubt he will be able to even scratch SutOxy. I also hope he didn't whip his AP city to get UoS...

Well, we have our iron now. We expanded so hard and covered almost all tiles and yet our two iron sources aren't workable by any cities. Murphy's law. lol Oh well, one worker can eventually connect it. It is not a high priority for us now.

That reminds me, I've got some messages to send (full diplo, yay rolleye). I'll do so in roughly 1 hour.

Options for GS bulb: Optics, Philo, Paper, ~half of Edu. If I remember correctly.

In fact he probably did whip it. As I remember, that city has 4pop or even 3pop.
I agree that Arki won't hurt Sut any bit after t150 even if we gift him some units.
I think if noone attack Sut now, it could be too late to stop him.
Well, we should grab some land and hope to catch up, but chances are slim.

I could probably move some workers/tiles based on your posts. I'll post report (probably not so Lurker-Friendly) later.

-----
EDIT:
I'll move some more units later. Should think a bit about optimal domestics.
I wanna whip a several cities this turn. Post it here before whiping for approval.

Actually, Arki whip UoS down to 3pop...

A three-population city at this point in the game ... and wasn't Arki the only civ in the game to have Paper? Why whip, I have no idea (he could have asked us to confirm that he was the only one with paper).

Which cities do you want to whip?

Also, it seems like Bisons is playing for Yuufo, which is better for the game as a whole but worse for us since he seems to be playing longer turns.
