Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

It might be worth offering to pay him for the city. He can't easily reinforce it now, but 9 swords will be a pain to break through behind walls. What is the ETA on civil service?

Six of the swordsmen moved back east in the remaining three galleys he has on the scene.
Now he's researching Machinery, so basically I need to take Ise before I get picvked apart by Caravels? And for that I need construction.

In retrospect it makes sense that he didn't go straight for lemuria, I had 3 axes there so the swordsmen couldn't take it, or it would have been close.

Superdeath is sending me 'butthurt' suggestions that I attack Scooter, probably not realising (despite the panic-whipping) that it's Yuri who attacked me and I merely declared war.

I added "war with scooter" to my peace demand with Yuri (demanding Ise). Hopefully he likes that.

I'll try to login tonight and take a look.

I also sent SD some "attack yuri, 10 gold, attack scooter" suggestions but it seems the implication is not clear

So I have been missing some stuff about the gamestate since the last time I checked.

Yuris has a shrine and Glib in addition to Oracle. Rather than being behind significantly behind scooter in economy he is probably trailing or near equal.

Our tech rate for getting to macemen is not great. 3 turns at 100% but the expenses are high and the gold saving rate is not good. Phi bulbs would be the way of circumventing this but I am not sure if you think it is worth to start burning great people for this purpose.

Yuris is ahead of us for getting to crossbows or macemen. He is two techs from caravels, so I do not expect him to get a ton ready right away. But his city is not falling anytime soon given that we can not even build catapults. I recommend just offering to buy it from him. His city is culture crushed and in an awkward spot.

I am not sure scooter is the #1 priority anymore. It might make more sense to nudge Yuris and scooter to fight first and then try and take advantage of whoever loses from that conflict.

How do you offer to buy a city when you're at war with someone? And why would macemen be important, isn't longbow-catapult enough to work with? Are maces better than cats then?

You would put a peace offer in the diplo window offering gold for the city.

Maces have 2 base strength and can take city raider, they also have a bonus vs melees. I suppose a sufficient number of cats + longbows would be able to break Yuris current garrison. But I don't think longbows would be able to break through maces if Yuri gets to machinery and ships some over.

Civ4 peace deals are bad. You can only make demands from one side - and a gold offer in the chat should be forbidden in most cases.

But there is a small trick. You don't need to enter a 10 turn enforced peace to get a normal trade offer.

Yeah, looks like we would need to ask for a cease fire first.

I thought some more and there is probably no longer a window for attacking for macemen given that Yuri is researching machinery next. Probably knights and then grenadiers are the way to go.
