yeah - I am totally challenged when it comes to west and east.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Quote:Ruff,
Talked with Krill and passed along your info. He said
new.mail.storage: Well, I'm sending my warrior SE to meet Ottomans, but then I'll be heading NE to meet Ruffs eastern neighbour
So my warrior will probablt rematerialize about, what, 8 to 12 tiles east of where he is now
in about 15ish turns
That is before Alphabet is finished, so should be OK
Also, do you have access to Exploit's graphs?

To DJ's leader,
As discussed with Rego, we would appreciate if you could relay our warrior's current location (26 tiles east, 4 tiles south from LN) to Aztec, in the hope they have a spare unit they could send out.
Regards,

- DJCiv: hey
- me: who am I chatting with?
- DJCiv: regoarrarr
- me: ahh - mr C&D
- DJCiv: heh
- me: did you guys get a chance to flip my message to Krill?
- DJCiv: i think so?
- me: just to make your life easier - founded my #2 city this morning
name is 60.76 (or something like that)
- DJCiv: thanks!
tile locations?
what's the naming scheme?
- me: to my capital's west and south - shares tiles with capital
I leave the naming scheme up to you
a lurker picked it up very quickly
where is your 2nd city?
- DJCiv: to our SW also
- me: so - no border tension yet
![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
do you have animal husbandry? I would like to get some horses online if I can
- DJCiv: i think we are researching it?
- me: do you guys have metal?
- DJCiv: planning on jaguar rushing us? :-P
- me: I will when I get a border pop in #2
no - hoping that you guys aren't vulnerable
- DJCiv: i think we'll be okay
- me: ok
- DJCiv: so the mighty c&d department says that it was bronze working the tech you just researched?
- me: yep
any idea what I am starting on now?
- DJCiv: that would be something
Here are some of [your] options ...
Priesthood
Fishing -> Sailing
Wheel -> Pottery
:-D
- me: they look familiar
and all wrong as it turned out
- DJCiv: [sunrise] Hi Ruff
- me: am I getting buzzed by two DJs now?
- DJCiv: i think so
- me: I have a screenshot that I will send you
- DJCiv: [sunrise] Yeah like cohosts of a wacky morning zoo radio program Ruff
- me: nothing too detailed yet (don't want to go completely naked) but does give layout of what I know
haven't heard boo from the Inca - they have a Q scouting down S of my capital
- DJCiv: grr i am trying to invite myself in so it's a little less confusing
- me: who is in that team?
- DJCiv: but can't figure out the gchat
inca is kalin, athlete, nakor, jowy
- me: ahh - so a totally trustworthy team then (sarcasm)
- DJCiv:
![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
don't hold their pb2 diplomacy against them
somehow that's "unfair"
- me: guess I better get some more beef to defend my holy city
not holding that against them
- DJCiv: well if you'll get metal soon you should be okay
- me: but will observe and learn from their prior military approach
praying for a free religion spread ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
- DJCiv: yeah
that would be nice
- me: yep - well - let me know if you hear back from Krill
- DJCiv: okay
man it is hard keeping track of who is on which teams
like the "lesser known" people
- me: I grabbed a copy of that jpg with team, leader, civ, traits, techs - very nice
- DJCiv: yeah i have that
but i'm just talking about "knowing"
like i see the name sockboy
what team is he oN?
gotta look that up
and find it
etc etc
- me: who has a name 'sockboy'!!
- DJCiv: heh
taht's team
"SWAP"
of the ottomans btw
sockboy / ad hoc / warrior knight / pegasus
- me: thx
- me: buzz
I do have exploit's graphs
- DJCiv: ah cool
- me: why?
- DJCiv: trying to figure out what he's doing
and if we need to worry about a vulture rush
- me: ok - I will flip you some screenies this evening
- DJCiv: cool
- me: hey - re meeting HRE - where is 26E, 4S of LN?
more so ... where is LN?
- DJCiv: LN is ladies night - our cap
you know where that is, right?
- me: ahh - thx
yep
- DJCiv: wasn't sure where your capital was so i couldn't tell them
- me: but my map only goes 10ish tiles E
- DJCiv: but i can pass on a msg to them if you want them to move in a certain direction
- me: and I don't know how wide the capital is yet
how wide the map is yet
- DJCiv: but they are 26 tiles east of US
so shouldn't be more than 10-15 east of YOU, right?
- me: I have a warrior about 30 tiles E of LN
and I'll try and guess at how wide the map is
will have to look at the game to be more precise
- DJCiv: why do you need to know how wide the map is?
- me: my guess is that the map is 64 tiles wide
so he is about 8 tiles E of my eastern warrior
cool
- DJCiv: did you mean that your warrior is 30 tiles WEST of LN?
- me: oh oh - miss read - thought he was 26 tiles W of LN
now that I can read correctly - we should have warriors pretty close together
- DJCiv: so what would you like me to tell them
- me: need to look at game to get exact position
let them know I will get back to them this evening (via you)
my feeling is that my warrior will be 28E, 8S of LN
- DJCiv: sent on
did you mean 28W?
- me: my warriro is 30E, 3S of LN
Some mass confusion in there but you should be able to work it out. Here is the screenshot I said I would send to them re meeting up with HRE ...

I believe we would like to meet Krill. How do you know of his whereabouts or who is arranging the meeting with you? In your previous e-mail you said India and Exploit were to your west? Is it your east or west? At the moment we have yet to meet anybody else.

Yeah - I'm an idiot - I meant to my West. I am talking to India who have met Krill. Before we go any further, how about we sign a NAP through to (minimum) T75 with a 10 turn cooling off period. Pretty standard stuff for the start of any game.

oh oh - and my 1 turn pause before settling really paid off. I settled where the warrior is and started a Obelisk (or what ever it is). I have trade routes back to 99.94 so hopefully I will get a free religion spread ... or do I actually need trade via rivers for that to happen?
New city is called 60.97 as someone already guessed.

Starting to feel a little nervous about the Inca Q next to my city. They could decide that MY Holy City should be THEIR Holy City and declare on me. He could move his Q 1 North and try and kill my 2nd city. I've moved my capital's warrior down to help out and can double move it into 60.97. However, the double move rule might stop me, depending on which half the Incas claim. The way around that is to build a warrior in 60.97. I just finished a forest chop that I want to go into a monument but will put into a warrior to save the city. The only problem is that I don't know this turn if I need the warrior or not.
What do do?
Easy solution - I've delayed the decision until next turn by forcing myself into anarchy (swap to slavery) ... the forest chop will come through next turn by which stage I will know if they are attacking or not.
As you can see above, we are chatting and I have asked for a NAP - another good indicator regarding their intentions. My hope is that they move as indicated, see that I have copper at my second city and go and select another target ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .

Monastery so soon, frustrating ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) . That's going to be worth around 1 beaker right now! A worker's worth of hammers is a lot to give up for 1 beaker when more worker turns or additional military security/scouting remain such priorities.
By the way, trade network exists between the two cities (which is why you have trade routes), and as such you can get autospread. Proximity to holy city is a factor so auto-spread is very likely there.
I advocate against the monastery very much. Workers/settlers/military. We can get them religion later or use OR possibly. Every hammer counts, especially early, and monastery is likely a blunder under every possible strategy we can choose, unless the other side is willing to compensate us 90+ hammers worth of stuff for a missionary (or we can get multiple workers for missionaries to different civs). Since we don't seem to have that locked in, especially this early, it's painful to see that in the queue after dropping off following this for a few days.

An NAP sounds interesting, though t75 sounds a bit long since no one knows where this game is going to.
Would you be inclined to sign a shorter NAP for a start to get a foundation for our future relations and build some mutual trust?
Congratz on the second city, btw!

Lying bunch of bastards. Its T49 at the moment, T75 is next door. The only reason for delaying is that they are gearing up for an attack. Tech on archery in 4.
@TMIT - yeah - you are right. At the moment, expecting hostilities from the Incas tech path is Archery (4), Wheel [8] while we wait for border pop at 60.67 (12). Current build at 99.94 is worker that I am planning on whipping with overflow into archer while we re-grow. I expect that the Inca will try and axe rush me.
That Q moved out of range before seeing that I have copper ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) .

Refusing a 25 turn NAP is definitely a red flag. To refuse that, they are 1) refusing in order to build relations with another team or 2) currently prepping an attack (possibly having it march in the next 10-15 turns) or 3) refusing to force us to use up resources/time planning against an attack (which, if we're not part of a tech alliance of theirs, benefits them by slowing us a bit at minimal cost).
We're a favored target due to founding religion. Archery is a good call, but hooking the copper is a priority. It's pretty early in the game ---> early enough that axe rush is unlikely by t75 (maybe as a choke attempt). What we need to keep a big eye for is quecha rush with enough #'s to hurt ---> if they approach correctly they can threaten both cities, and even with warriors (which aren't aggressive, while his have combat) it's not a gimme to protect both unless we see it. Keep an eye on that power graph. It should be telling whether we need to be spamming out some military or if we can afford to leave it alone for a bit.
Either way, the #1 thing to avoid here is a dogpiling, so we need to sort out relations with others too.

I think we are pretty save from a dogpile. We have an alliance with India, HRE. We are looking for 1 other to round it out to 4. We have a tech cartel with 6 others ...
Portugal: Sailing
Aztec: Archery
India: Masonry
Ottomans: Pottery
Rome: IW
HRE: HBR
Eygpt: Alphabet
Eygpt is oracling Alphabet somewhere around T62 (13 turns from now) - about the same time that we should be able to hook up copper. Please - everyone ... pray hard for a religion spread to 60.67. Here is my rubber chicken sacrifice from pbem#1 - it didn't work there but as it turned out, it was ok.
