All day long the discussion raged back and forth. Eventually a compromise was reached. The ice would be reserved for the Arcturan Mega-Gin; after all, it MUST be properly iced, or the benzene is lost. In return, those who preferred other beverages would control the jukebox and have dibs on the Mercurian fire-crackers.

Other less important subjects were also discussed throughout the day. One guy was ridiculed for his aching canines, while another was accused of walking like a cat and thinking like a hare. A short, stocky, and incredibly awkward guy with a hairdo like melted chocolate said he could go pick some ice off an asteroid, but was met with blank stares. Clearly, this guy was not very observant, as the nearby regions of space had been scoured clean of asteroids by whoever constructed the giant space fair. Perhaps trying to deflect attention, the unobservant chocolate lover pointed a finger of blame at a gill-breather further down the bar. In reality, gills were a perfectly sensible adaption for regular party-goers, as neatly illustrated by the concurrent wild scramble for the last drop of vodka gazpacho. Meanwhile, a rambling space cowboy space pilot speaking in double-spaced sentences slumped down at the space bar and started downing stiff space drinks while calling out for space whores. Nobody volunteered their services.

However, the smart-ass with the chocolate hair, going by the name of Winston Hughes, just couldn't let the whole ice issue rest. Pointing to the void outside, he exclaimed: look, it's freaking outer space out there!! There is plenty of water in the tanks. How hard can it be to manufacture some more ice?

- I don't know, said Serdoa (the guy with the canines), annoyed with this repetitive nagging. Why don't you go outside and find out?

With that, he abruptly kicked Winston into the airlock and hit the big red button. Raucous laughter rebounded through the bar, as Winston flailed his arms wildly (for emphasis?), quickly dropping out of sight as his trajectory diverged from that of the Space Bar. There were a few raised eyebrows, but the majority agreed that this was an appropriate reaction to his insolence.

Later, as the party was starting to really take off, the automatic distress signal transmitted from Winston's neural lace was finally decoded by the local AI. Careful analysis revealed that the background noise of his panicked brainwave patterns had left a faint imprint. Extrapolating from his final incoherent thoughts, the AI concluded that his personality and mental dispositions could be described as follows:

Winston Hughes, you are a regular nutcase, but NOT afflicted with SCUM. You are an innocent pilot, and want to root out the SCUM so you can repair the spacetime portal and get out of here. (Or at least, bring in some fresh beverages.)

In the past, you've participated in your fair share of pub brawls, and you believe you can hold your own in a fist fight.

You may cast a lynch vote every day. You win the game if/when all remaining players are innocent, like yourself.

You also have the following one-shot day-time ability (can only be used during the DAY phase):
- Punch: Invoke this ability by posting Punch: <Name> in yellow and bold. The player you target will feel your right hook and become wounded. If he is already wounded, he will die and the day will end. You may only use this ability once.

Important note about day-time abilities: If a lynch has been reached, you may no longer invoke any day-time abilities, even if the lynch results have not been posted yet. Please make sure to double check that no lynch has been reached before invoking a day-time ability.

It is now night. Night actions must be submitted before Thursday, September 29, 22:00 GMT.

Feel free to resume discussion at this point.

We've gotta kill someone to get this moving, but no-one is sticking out to me. I know I'm innocent so worse comes to worse I know I can defend on Day 2 if Winston Hughes isn't SCUM.

What's the point of having 5 votes on someone if they aren't given a chance to talk?

Or are we automatically gonna pull the trigger on all the people we push to the cusp?

That worked out poorly. I put him to five, and serdoa came in with the 6th inside of a minute of my post. I assume this means a cross-post, or it's really questionable. Regardless, with a setup like this you need to be using the preview post button to see if anyone has posted a vote in the interim.

How can you read this as a crosspost, Sareln?

Well I almost posted his name, and you're right we need to be careful.

But Serdoa's post read as him intentionally pulling the trigger.

But Serdoa's post read as him intentionally pulling the trigger.

I read it initially as Serdoa trying to get Winston over the hump by putting him to 5 and calling for an end to the day with someone to join him on it.

But yes, rereading it, it does look like a deliberate push to end the day.

That move makes no sense to me Serdoa. Why not wait for Winston to make a defense? Why kill him immediately? What's an hour or two either way?
