I recovered my off-site backup (portable disk at work) and restored to its 5th generation backup (late Feb) and it was Trojan free ... it did report the following:
I'm going to take an image of what I currently have, upgrade / restore / refresh my virus programs (McAfee) and then take another image.

Thanks for all the crowdsourced advice; went and ordered my own machine (not as high powered as Ruff's: i5 2500K, 8GB RAM, no SSD, 2TB hard drive b/c that was a free upgrade from 1TB, cost somewhat less than his).
ASM mentioned memtest86 for when I get the machine and have it up and running. Probably worth doing on my to-be-semi-retired laptop too...

Okay that's not really a question but are there different kinds / different slots for different kinds of (desktop) computers?
I'm looking to buy a new coffee cup holder for my home computer, the old one snapped the other day. Any recommendations?
I have to run.

Its not a virus unless I picked the wrong version.
That's an exe, and MSE just yanked it immediately...

Back back back in the days of floppy drives - the real floppy drives that took floppy(!) disks, there was a program that, when you ran it said the following ...
.... Water detected in floppy drive
It then announced that it was inducing spin cycle (suitable spinning and water draining noises ensured) ... and then it said your floppy was fixed ... good to go.

New Computer order update ...
IBP says 5-10 (work) days from ordering to shipping ... well - not quite for my PC ... ... and it only shipped when it did (via air) after ringing them on Monday ( it should ship today), Tuesday ( it should ship today), Wednesday ( it should ship today) ... and then on Thursday - "Hello, I want to cancel my order." and that evening I get a shipping number. Arrives Tuesday ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .
I was doing some 'what happens if I buy all of the parts myself' study on Amazon / Newegg and it would end up costing me $100 less than IBP ... but I would have the joy(??) of putting it together myself.
I did read a whole bunch of (newegg) reviews about the liquid cooling system that I am getting ( Corsair H60) and how it broke and trashed the rest of the PC. The actuary in me then went into over-drive about risk / reward. Should I be worried?
I am planning on taking pics of the inside before I do anything - want to see?

I'm using a H60, been using it for almost a year. No problems for me.

Yeah, post your picks.
I'm not generally a fan of all-in-one watercooling solutions these days, but I'd not worry to much about it. Even if it leaks it shouldn't actually cause too much damage.
$100 to put together a decent computer with some non-standard options is a fine price. I may not be able to charge web-design money (see different thread) but I'd still need to charge that or more to put together a good gaming machine.

Last time I heard that a H60 exploded, Corsair replaced the dude's 'puter. I have a H70, the H60 is louder and older design.
